Self-catering holiday accommodation in Rothbury

Set on the eastern edge of Northumberland National Park, nestled in the Coquet Valley, Rothbury in Northumberland is a small and pretty market town built on a sandstone hillside.

Although small in size, Rothbury lies in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside and therefore offers a variety of art galleries, pubs, cafes, shops and tearooms to the visitors who have come from miles around. The town is especially popular with walkers, as there are some excellent routes to be followed from the town, following the River Coquet and leading you into Simonside and the Northumberland National Park. Stay in a Northumberland National Park cottage.

Perhaps the most famous attraction Rothbury has to offer is the National Trust house Cragside, the former home of William Armstrong. The first house in Britain to be lit by hydroelectricity, Cragside is packed with ingenious and intriguing gadgets, while outside there are over 1000 acres of land to explore, including beautiful landscaped gardens. Rothbury is also home to some lively festivals: the Music Festival, taking place every July, and the Food and Craft Festival, held every May bank holiday. With its central location in rural Northumberland, Rothbury remains within a short distance of many popular locations, including Alnwick (12 miles) and Newcastle (29 miles).
