This fantastic stone-built cottage close to the heart of historic Rothbury is perfect for couples, friends or small families, with the national park on your doorstep and plenty of space to relax both inside and out.

This wonderful home is packed full of unique features alongside stylish, contemporary finishes. Stepping into the lofty open-plan lounge/diner, exposed beams fly overhead with gorgeous wooden flooring underfoot, and a double-sided wood burner warms both this room and the cosy snug adjacent. With windows on three sides, plus the Velux windows in the roof, the living space is flooded with light creating a tranquil place to relax after a day of discovery. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen that combines modern fixtures and fittings with a touch of rustic charm. Outside is a wrap-around, west-facing gravel and lawn garden with a fire pit and garden furniture for al fresco dining, sunset drinks and stargazing. When it’s time for bed, the first of the delightful double bedrooms can be found on the ground floor, with the other on the first floor, where the sloping roofline creates an inviting space to rest weary legs.

This property is conveniently located near the centre of Rothbury, a wide range of independent shops, friendly pubs, cafes, and restaurants are all nearby. Take a stroll along the banks of the River Coquet or visit the UK’s first-ever ‘smart’ home, Cragside House and Gardens, and there’s even an excellent golf course within walking distance (0.5 miles). Climb the local Simonside Hills to enjoy fabulous views over the town from the top and explore the walking and cycling trails around the Northumberland National Park which begins 6 miles from your door. Alnwick Castle is just under 12 miles away, as are the famous Alnwick Gardens, offering 12 acres of meandering landscaped gardens home to the world's largest Tai Haku cherry orchard, a ‘Grand Cascade’ comprising 120 water jets and the world’s largest treehouse restaurant. Alternatively, head to the coast for a day trip to Alnmouth’s beautiful sandy beach, 16 miles away.

Lovely quirky , stylish cottage with a gorgeous enclosed sun trap garden. Excellent for the dogs. We managed to turn our estate car round in the parking area, so dont let this put you off.

We have had a lovely week at Restawhile cottage. The cottage was warm and comfortable, we loved the fairy lights all over the cottage and the unusual lamps and decorations, it is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. We had a bit of trouble finding it, as we thought the lane was just a driveway, but a friendly local told us where it wRead moreas. This is a real gem. Small but perfectly formed. Cleverly designed and beautifully decorated with lots of special little touches. It a fabulous base from which to explore the beautiful Northumberland landscape. The hosts are helpful and responsive. We would definitely recommend and return

A warm, comfortable cottage with a good outdoor seating space. Quiet and peaceful. The steps down into Rothbury are challenging, particularly on the way back up. A small but mighty cottage, well designed for comfort. The kitchen was well equipped allowing you to self cater with ease. Location was superb, very close to centre of rothbury town with a direct route up / down some steep stairs.

Restawhile cottage is a beautiful cottage, very well equipped beautiful decorated, and perfectly situated for exploring Northumberland. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing a really lovely place to stay. The only negative was the parking. It is stated the the turning point is tight but thats an under statement! We enjoyed a fabulous stay here this summer. We loved the unique dcor in the accommodation. There are 2 good sized bedrooms - one downstairs & one a mezzanine level (but mind your head on the sloping ceiling!) I would expect a better equipped kitchen and utensils. The curtain at bottom of the stairs in the upstairs room is totally inappropriate. There are insufficient blinds in the lounge area to protect from the afternoon sun and some kind of insect protection is required in this area as we experienced an infestation of flies and wasps on warm days. Read moreAll in all not the best accommodation. There is a reactive dog ( not aggressive) in the property you have to walk past but if you have a reactive dog.

Directions to cottage are great. Go up that steep hill turn left and drive to end of the terrace turn left follow the track round. I drive a Kadjar plenty of space to park and turn it around to come out forward. Location super. Did not know about Cragside wonderful. 5 mins away. Also went to Seahouse, Bamburgh , Hadrian's Wall, the missing tree, MoRead morerpeth, Hexham, Alnwick Holly Island. Rothbury high street has various eating options, and a large Co oP. Book a delivery from one of the supermarkets. Hide

Lovely cottage up on a hill, very cosy and comfortable. I loved the town itself with all the independent shops which is so rare to find these days. It's also very dog friendly and there is a lovely walk along the river if you don't want to travel far. The cottage is a little gem. It is a bit tucked away but once you get used to where it is and the parking, it is great. Very warm and comfortable. Getting into town is a breeze, just walk down the hill and you're there. As a base for exploring Northumberland it is ideal.

We thought it was an excellent base for exploring the local areas. The cottage is very pretty and well equipped although it could have been cleaned more thoroughly before we arrived. We hope to return to this area soon and would happily come back and stay at Restawhile. The neighbours are very friendly as well and made us feel welcome.

Cottage is in a good position in Rothbury, with good access to the local amenities. Garden is very dog friendly and there is good access to local walks.
