The best cottages with sea views in Northumberland

Jemima Kirkwood 04 December 2020

There is something really relaxing about being by the sea. Perhaps it is the sound of water gently lapping the shore, or the shingly sound of the sand as it moves with the tide, or the crashing sound of tumbling waves that instils a sense of calm. Whatever the reason, people love to be beside the ocean.

Northumberland is set on the north-east coast of England and stretches as far down as Newcastle, boasting many seaside towns and villages which are pleasant to visit at any time of year. The beaches are one of Northumberland’s main attractions, as well as its historic castles, dark skies and Northumberland National Park.

The beaches are loved by families looking for outdoor playtime, couples looking for peace and quiet, groups of friends into their water sports, and dog-walkers who have fur balls with oodles of energy. If you are planning a holiday soon, then make sure you check out our coastal cottages in Northumberland – they are bound to put a smile on your face and get you looking forward to your next adventure. Here are some of our favourites…

This is a delightful, traditional fisherman’s cottage nestled on the edge of the village of Craster. You can enjoy unspoilt views of the sea from the sitting room downstairs, and the double bedroom upstairs. You can start the day in style here - enjoy a slow cup of tea in bed with the sound of sea birds feeding and waves lapping, and plan your adventures for the day.

The cottage is in a prime position for watching boats chugging in and out of the small harbour, and it’s a stone throw away from the beach – perfect for those dog walkers that need a convenient place to stretch the legs. There are great walks from the doorstep, and it is close to shops and eateries as well as Dunstanburgh Castle. It is the perfect dog-friendly cottage with sea views in Northumberland!
