This welcoming 18th Century stone-built cottage is one of the oldest houses on the island. Its central village location means it’s well placed for exploring Holy Island.

Dog-friendly self-catering accommodation on Northumberland's Holy Island of Lindisfarne

We have an excellent selection of pet-friendly holiday cottages in and around Holy Island, just waiting to welcome you and your four-legged family member to this beautiful part of the Northumberland Coast. Holidaying canines and their owners have been visiting this National Trust delight for years - there is even photo evidence of former castle residents exercising the island’s dogs across the headland, so you’ll be in good company! Stay on the island in a traditional dog-friendly cottage or nearby on the coast at Goswick or Bamburgh from where you can visit this gorgeous island in your own time.

Test out the well-trodden paths across the castle field that leads towards the Jekyll Garden as well as the roads to the north of the castle – they’ll eventually take you out to the east shore. Lead-walked four legs are welcome but sadly cannot go into the castle, so you may have to take it in turns to picnic with Fido if you want to get your history fix. Make sure that you explore the rest of the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, remembering to keep inquisitive canines on leads. Find out everything there is to know in our guide to Lindisfarne, or seek out more dog-friendly places to visit in our dog-friendly guide to Northumberland.

When they want to have a scamper around off lead, set them free on the huge swathes of sand along the coast where they can have a splash about in the sea and work off some steam without the worry of disturbing nesting wildlife. When it’s time to relax, come back to one of our dog-friendly cottages in and around Holy Island and get ready for your next adventure. Our dog-friendly accommodation on Holy Island includes some of the best dog-friendly cottages in Northumberland, offering stunning views, plenty of room for your pup to stretch out, and the perfect base for your Northumberland break.
