Sleeping four, it offers chic contemporary accommodation with a sociable open-plan layout and a sunny private decked terrace overlooking rolling countryside. With plenty to see and do in the local area, head to the beach for a walk, sail, surf or kayak or stay at the complex to make us of the shared outdoor play area.

Spend quality family time in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which opens onto the terrace through large patio doors. The compact kitchen contains everything you could need for preparing delicious home-cooked meals, while the lounge area beyond is equipped with a Smart TV and DVD player. Upstairs, the two bedrooms are light, airy and elegantly decorated in soft muted tones. With rural views by day and starry skies by night, the decked terrace is a fantastic spot for al fresco dining.

Set out on foot across the dunes to reach the vast expanse of sandy beach at Low Newton. Popular among bird watchers, bathers, sandcastle makers and rock poolers alike, this beach is perfect for families. After a busy day on the beach, grab a bite to eat at one of the two friendly local pubs, one of which has its own microbrewery. Head north along the coast to reach the water sports mecca of Beadnell Bay (7 miles), or stroll south for Dunstanburgh Castle and the village of Craster (6 miles). 10 miles inland is the pretty market town of Alnwick, home to the famous Harry Potter castle.

Our second visit to these properties, still as good as they were last year. Love staying here so peaceful. Love the runner ducks and the rest of the wild life.

We were lucky to book our holiday 13th to 20th when the weather was perfect. The Lodge is in an excellent location for our favourite coastal walks and the sunny south-west facing patio excellent for a relaxing cup of tea after our days outing. Highly recommend.

Lovely well equipped cottage with comfy beds, fluffy towels and hot showers with its own veranda to sit out on and watch the horses. Set in well kept tranquil grounds with peacocks and less than a 5 minute walk to the fabulous beach and coastal paths. Enjoyed supper at the joiners arms and walking along the coast path to the Ship inn set by the seaRead more. Hide

The lodge was exceptional clean and cared for. Clean fresh bedding and linens Little extra thought of toiletries and cleaning products were helpful. Even the milk in the fridge for that cuppa as you arrive. The views are amazing and tranquil. A delightful stay

Lovely lodge. Very well kitted out. Only criticism is late check in time and early check out time! 5pm to check in (dark when we arrived) and 9:30 to check out means an early alarm when beds need to be stripped and bins emptied etc. Had a really lovely stay though and would definitely return (just hope the times change!)
