The lovely Orchard Cottage is situated on the edge of a 400 acre working farm with friendly farm animals nearby and a range of lovely birdlife to admire. This charming cottage enjoys an enviable location, situated exactly mid-way between the villages of Wooler and Belford, each being just 6 miles away (less than 10 minutes by car) and the local village of Lowick is just 2 miles. The golden beaches of Cheswick Sands and Bamburgh beach with its magnificent castle and charming village are only 20 minutes away. The market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is right on the coast and is less than half an hour's car ride from the cottage too. In nearby Lowick village there is a well-stocked village store, two pubs and a play park for families with young children.
Orchard Cottage is a deceptively spacious, well appointed, home-from-home sleeping up to 5 guests and with a cosy, open fire, as well as central heating, so, you can relax and enjoy your stay at any time of the year. This particular property is perfect for couples or families looking for a well-placed and comfortable base for a truly memorable holiday in our beautiful region and it is an ideal base for walking and cycling, right from the cottage front door with useful cycling route maps available upon request.
The nearby popular market town of Wooler is 10 minutes by car and always has something going on, with a great high street featuring a good butchers and bakers, a great delicatessen, a 'Co-Op' store and two High Street Banks. In addition, you can browse antique and craft shops, a gallery and friendly coffee houses. There is even a cycle hire and repair place too. The Italian restaurant, Milan in Wooler is always super-popular, (booking advised) and there is a wine bar for pre-dinner drinks. The 'Milk Bar' is a cafe with a difference and serves superb coffee and lunches, as well as the must-try famous Doddington Farm cheeses and delicious ice cream.
Wooler is also known as the 'gateway' to the dramatic beauty of the Cheviot Hills where walkers and mountain bikers can follow centuries-old routes and admire the rugged and peaceful landscape. St. Cuthbert’s Cave, locally known as ‘Cuddy’s Cave’ is a popular walk and is visible from the cottage. The historic Devil's Causeway is also close by; an old roman road running through Northumberland and on to the River Tweed.
For those wishing to explore our stunning heritage coastline, popular destinations, such as the Holy Island of Lindisfarne with its historic castle, priory and winery and the coastal villages of Seahouses and Beadnell, Low Newton-by-the-sea and Craster are all within easy reach by car and each well worth a visit!
The Scottish Border towns are also very accessible and provide a great option for fun days out. The historic market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is just under half an hour’s drive away with the stunning Spittal beach close by. You can take a train from Berwick to Edinburgh for an alternative day out - the journey only takes about 34 minutes on average.
Orchard Cottage really does offer the best of all worlds with coast and country within easy reach! There is so much to do from here, you will definitely need to come back.

Lounge: 3 seater sofa and two armchairs, occasional table, Open fire, TV, DVD player, CD and radio, selection of books and DVD's.
Kitchen: dining table and chairs, electric hob and oven, washing machine, microwave, fridge, freezer and coffee machine, walk-in pantry.
Master bedroom: south facing, double bedroom with a chest of drawers, bedside lamp and mirror and armchair. Lovely views over the fields.
Twin bedroom: with 2 single beds, a bedside table and lamp, chest of drawers and a small, double wardrobe. The room has views over the large, lawned, shared garden.
Single bedroom: with bedside table and lamp.
Bathroom: bath, WC and washbasin, electric shower over bath.
Bed linen, towels, heating and hot water are included. The cottage has oil fired central heating. In cooler months, there may be a surcharge for Oil and electricity depending upon quantities used, this will be charged at cost on departure.
Outside: There is a lawned garden to the front of the cottage and to the rear, a patio area accessed from the kitchen and a large lawned garded, which is shared with the neighbouring cottage. There is plenty of room in the rear garden and enough space to still have privacy.
Ample on-site parking. Storage on farm for cycles, canoes, climbing equipment etc.
This cottage accepts one small well behaved dog. Please note, there is an additional charge, please see our terms and conditions (point19) for more details and point 17 for house rules regarding dogs.
Cot (parents please bring own linen for the cot) and high chair available on request
