Steeped in history, this quintessential English cottage is nestled in the charming seaside town of Bamburgh on the Northumberland coast. This relaxing bolthole is the perfect escape for small families or groups of friends. Examine the impressive architecture of Bamburgh Castle (500 metres) before dipping into an immersive exhibition to learn of the fortress’s colourful history. Back at base, grab a brew and settle around the wood burner for a blether.

This bright abode is the epitome of easy coastal living. Picture sun-bleached wooden textures, nautical stripes, and fresh marine hues. Drop beach bags at the door then step into the inviting open-plan space. Thumb through a guidebook propped against the plump throw pillows on the sofa or curl up on the armchairs and unwind with a film. Pad into the spacious kitchen area and cook up a hearty evening spread for the group. Crack open some fizz then settle in for supper perched on the bench-style seat. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility space, perfect for freshening up sandy gear. Retire upstairs to find two airy bedrooms, consisting of a king-size and an adaptable king-size zip-and-link which can be arranged as a twin on request. Outdoors, potter in the leafy patio garden, or fire up the BBQ for a grilled al fresco feast.

In summer months, feel the sand between your toes with an amble along the golden sands of Bamburgh Beach (within 100 metres), then refuel with unbeatably fresh seafood and fine wines on the scenic harbourfront of Seahouses (3 miles). Don’t miss a visit to the bustling weekly market in the cobbled town of Alnwick (17.5 miles) – the perfect spot to secure some locally crafted souvenirs and artisan deli goodies.

  • 2 king-size bedrooms, 1 with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins on request

Bolthole is a 2 bed (both en-suite) in the Crewe courtyard right smack bang in the middle of Bamburgh village. Its gated and secure. There are three areas for sitting out, although was abit cold whilst we visited. It was just perfect for us. Its quiet. Its immaculately clean. owners were around whilst we were there and it was great to hear how tRead morehe cottages came into being, having once been part of the rear outbuilding at The Lord Crew Arms. We walked a lot most days. We ate at the ocean club and Lewis's fish and chips both in Seahouses. Excellent. The shops were all closed up as it was first week in January accept for Butchers and this is a must to visit and get yourself some Bamburgh Bangers - delicious. Hide

The Bolthole is in a wonderful location, only a few hundred yards from Bamburgh Castle, a magnificent sight when you step out of the cottage. This property is beautifully furnished with a very high standard of cleanliness; it also has the added bonus of secure, gated parking to the rear.

The Bolthole was a lovely property, very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The two outside areas meant that we could follow the sun round when sitting outside. In the centre of Bamburgh, it was in an excellent position for visiting the area as well as being close to restaurants and village shops.

This was our second visit to The Bolthole, third coming up in October, so were obviously satisfied returning customers!! The location is perfect, close to local facilities (special mention to the Victoria Hotel) and the glorious beach, yet its very quiet. Two minor gripes.theres no long mirror and nowhere to hang anything in the bathroom.

The Bolthole is in a fantastic location, only a few hundred yards from Bamburgh Castle and a stone's throw from the best butcher's I have ever shopped at.
