Vaulted ceilings and a stylised quasi-cathedral window echo the architecture of the iconic Bamburgh Castle that can be seen from this property, making this a magical destination for a family holiday. The castle is an obvious choice for a day out, and there is also Bamburgh Beach – a beautiful, dramatic stretch of golden sands which is a popular surf spot. Both are less than half a mile away. Lindisfarne (16 miles) is well worth a visit, offering plenty of history, stunning views and thriving wildlife. Holy Island can be reached from Lindisfarne either by car via the causeway (tide dependant) or by boat. There are plentiful local amenities in Bamburgh itself and nearby Seahouses (2.5 miles) – a quaint village with a lovely beach and pretty harbour – but for a more bustling town visit Berwick-upon-Tweed (20 miles). There, you can walk around the town atop the Elizabethan defence walls, shop to your heart’s content, or even go to a performance at the Maltings.

The spacious and contemporary kitchen/diner is on the ground floor of this characterful property, with granite worktops, ceiling spotlights, and a stylish dining table. The beautiful king-size bedroom sits on this floor, with a striking four-poster bed, chair and side table – perfect for tranquil moments of relaxation – and en-suite shower room. French doors lead out from here onto a patio garden area. There is also a separate WC on this floor. Upstairs, you will find the second bedroom – a super-king-size (which can be made up as a twin on request) with en-suite shower room - and cosy living room, both of which have vaulted ceilings. The decor throughout is neutral yet characterful, and the rooms are bright and airy. In the lounge, you’ll find comfy seating and a flame effect electric fire, as well as an impressive window looking out to the castle.

French doors lead out from the master bedroom on the ground floor to the courtyard garden which is enclosed and has garden furniture for relaxing or dining alfresco in good weather.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size with zip-and-link beds which can be made up as a twin on request, 1 king-size
  • 2 bathrooms – 2 en-suite shower rooms with WCs, 1 separate WC
  • Induction hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer
  • Cot and highchair available on request

Everything about the cottage was amazing. We loved being in the centre of Bamburgh with the view over the Castle and good choices of places to eat. We particularly liked The Victoria and Lord Crewe. This is the third time we have stayed at Castleside - the others a number of years ago. We were pleased that the standards haven't dropped - altogether a fantastic place to stay with unsurpassed view of the castle. This year we brought our castle-mad grandson who loved the place - especially the view! Plenty of castles for us to explore around hereRead more. Hide

Fell in love with Bamburgh on first visit in 1963 and have revisited many time since. Never stayed in more comfortable accommodation. Castleside had everything for us to make our holiday special. Of course the view of the castle from the lounge is most impressive but the sunrise over the castle is worth getting up for!

Spacious, well fitted out, comfortable. Large kitchen with everything you would need. Fridge freezer was large enough to stock up with food and booze. Car parking was great, secure and roomy. We were minutes from food and drinks with a very good choice of venues.
