A brilliant cottage in a lovely setting. Ideal for visiting the coast, Hadrians wall, the Cheriots, and Kildar Water to mention a few. Plenty of walks locally too with Craigside, Rothbury Terraces and Simonside Hills. Plus a plethora of eating places on our doorstop. Brilliant for dog owners as well. Look forward to visiting in another season.

It was comfortable and welcoming and the flowers, cake and Prosecco were a lovely touch. We found that cooking on an Aga different and could not manage to judge timings of food. We also found the heat from the Aga a little over powering around the kitchen area. We love the area of Rothbury where the cottage is in, as we have stayed across the road Read morepreviously. We had hoped to bring older members of our family with us but decided that the different levels/stairs would not have been ideal for them. Hide

If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.
