Tastefully decorated with a number of period features, this pretty cottage is positioned centrally in one of the most picturesque villages in the Northumberland National Park.

Nestled in a quintessential village on the cusp of the Northumberland National Park, this cottage is perfect for families and groups looking to get reacquainted with the great outdoors. Known for being a Dark Sky Reserve, you’ll be well placed to view the constellations with a nocturnal walk around the park, equipped with a flask of hot chocolate and a torch in hand. Sleeping six, your accommodation is a welcome sight after a busy day, especially when you light the wood burner and open a bottle of wine.

The cottage has beamed ceilings, exposed stone fireplaces and a decor that’s in keeping with the building’s old-world charm. Classic furniture matches the traditional ambience, whether you are settled in front of a film in the lounge or sitting down to breakfast in the kitchen/diner. Both rooms are kept pleasingly warm thanks to the wood burners, and your morning will be off to an excellent start with a coffee from the Nespresso machine in the kitchen. Pamper yourself in the downstairs bathroom before retiring for the night to one of three upstairs bedrooms, choosing from an attractive king-size, a double, or a twin. There is also an upstairs shower room. Outside, you’ll have sole use of a pretty seating area, and to the rear of the property is the local pub’s beer garden complete with an outdoor pizzeria for the nights you don’t feel like cooking. Roadside parking is subject to availability.

The village of Harbottle is an excellent destination for soaking up local history with the Drake Stone and the ruins of Harbottle Castle on its doorstep, not to mention miles of countryside walks including part of the Pennine Way. The River Coquet is excellent for fishing, or why not take a stroll along its banks to soak up the impressive scenery?

Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Lovely welcome pack on arrival including a towel for drying off the dog, which was a nice touch. Great pub next door with super friendly and helpful staff.

This is a lovely cottage in a very pretty village, with glorious countryside around. It's easy to get to many places of interest, though in our case Storm Ciaran caused a few problems with flooded roads. The pub next door was very welcoming, and food portions huge; they also have a useful small shop attached. We did slightly miss having a garden, bRead moreut the dog was happy to have extra walks instead. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this place. Hide

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Bottle Cottage. The cottage was beautifully furnished, a real joy to return to each day after exploring the many stunning locations all within easy reach of Harbottle. Great cottage, immaculate and easy to use for a small gathering. We appreciated the village with a lovely atmosphere not touristy, pub next door quiet & friendly with their own shop... everyone so friendly and some fantastic remote walks.

Lovely comfortable cottage in a beautiful location, next door to a friendly pub/ village hub. The house is very well equipped and spacious with a very comprehensive info folder. There is no garden, which was only a shame as the weather was unusually fabulous..

We had a lovely week in Bottle Cottage. The cottage itself was characterful, tastefully decorated and fitted to a high standard. The owners were kind, helpful and efficient. Harbottle was a great place to stay, and having The Star pub next door was brilliant; the food served was excellent and the option of takeaway pizzas was ideal. Bottle Cottage was lovely, it was spotlessly clean with beds made etc. There is parking right outside, or on busy days a few houses down, we had 3 cars and never had to walk far. There are some stunning local walks and a pub next door serving amazing Italian food. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for a short stay; it was clean and welcoming and lots of nice touches like a welcome pack and a woodburning fire. It was in lovely countryside and had a real 'get away from it all' feel. Do try anything on the 'Specials' list at the Star Inn next door - they were exceptional!
