Gather a group for a holiday in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There’s space for two couples and their dogs or a mixed group within a terraced stone cottage, which dates back to the 1860s. The property has plenty of timeless charm and is located in a quiet area, 2.5 miles from the nearest village. Anyone who loves the great outdoors is sure to have a wonderful time.

Enter through the hall and come to a kitsch living room, warmed by an electric fire. The decoration, which continues throughout the house, is traditional and pretty. It’s a perfect place to relax when you arrive or after a busy day exploring. The next room is a kitchen, with wooden touches and everything you’ll need for making tasty meals, and the dining room is adjacent for your convenience. Head upstairs, where you’ll find two double bedrooms, both of which have incredible views of the surrounding area. Please be aware that one of the beds is a 4’ double. The family shower room is also on this level. You’ll have an enclosed front garden where you can let the dogs roam, or why light the charcoal BBQ and cook up a feast on sunny afternoons? There’s also a table outside so you can enjoy a morning drink and watch the birds.

The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is an incredible place with plenty to do and see. Check out some local walks or hire bikes and get exploring! For those who enjoy water sports, look into White Water Tubing at Barnard Castle (17 miles away) or visit Derwent Waterside Park (8 miles away), where you can go fishing, sailing, and then finish off with something tasty in the cafe.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, pleasantly situated and well equipped "home from home". The Welcome Pack was extremely generous and appreciated! There is WiFi, which was a bonus, and we brought a Firestick for more choice on the TV. The location was all we hoped for, with great dog walks and wildlife on the doorstep. A cosy cottage in beautiful and quiet surroundings. Everything you need is there, including a huge welcome pack! The lovely village Blanchland, with a good tearoom, is close by. Also Stanhope with its shops and railway station. We like to come back!

We visited during very good weather so were able to fully enjoy the outdoors, sitting out in the twilight until 11 pm. It was also a fantastic location for our dogs who could wander freely and were fascinated by the rabbits and birdlife. If you're used to city living, the cottage is quite remotely situated so this is either a huge plus or might proRead moreve slightly disconcerting. The host was amazingly thoughtful in every way and inside was very clean, comfortable. We felt very welcomed indeed. Hide

Charming cottage. Welcome pack did what it said on the tin. You could make a great meal of eggs bacon beans on toast when you got in. Remember remoteness of shops when you go. Great walking from the door.
