The small, country village of Longhoughton has cafes and a pub on the doorstep, and is an excellent choice for a family looking to be close to the Northumberland coastline, its castles and market towns. Walk or drive to the nearby beach at Sugar Sands (1.5 miles) for picnics and a stroll on this quiet beach. Alnwick town (4.5 miles), is home to Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden, and both are a must-visit during your stay. The historic town offers a range of independent shops, galleries, bars and restaurants, a well-known second-hand bookstore, a theatre, cinema and arts centre, and a sports centre with a swimming pool. Craster Harbour and the start of the coastal walk to Dunstanburgh Castle is 4.5 miles away, and Howick Hall and Gardens is just over 2 miles away.

Walk through the garden gate to enter the cottage by the front door. From the hallway, head into the lounge where you can relax on the two large and comfortable sofas. There is a Smart TV over the fireplace and a warming wood burner for cosy evenings after your days out exploring the area. With lovely views of the garden, wooden flooring and a feature stone wall, this room is full of cottage character and the perfect place to unwind. The well-equipped, light and airy kitchen/diner is just off the lounge with modern appliances allowing the family cook to enjoy preparing meals. The adjoining utility/laundry room is home to the fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer, and there is plenty of storage space for your outdoor clothing and walking boots. You will also find a useful downstairs WC off the kitchen. The ground-floor bedroom is on the far side of the living space with a lovely garden view and a feature fireplace. There are twin zip-and-link beds (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request). On the first floor, there are two further bedrooms: a king-size with open hanging space and under-bed storage if needed, and a single bedroom, perfect for a child or an adult. The contemporary family shower room comprises a walk-in shower and WC.

Outside, to the rear of the property, there is a decked outdoor seating area with garden furniture where you can enjoy al fresco dining. To the front, there is an enclosed, lawned garden with mature planting, bench seating and a bistro table; a lovely spot for your morning coffee watching the visiting birdlife, or to sit with a drink watching the sunset before the stars come out in the super dark sky above.
