The Bothy is centrally located on the Northumberland Heritage Coastline in the village of Longhoughton, which is very near to the villages of Craster (10 minutes), Boulmer and the popular market town of Alnwick (10 minutes). Exploring the stunning Northumberland coast while staying at the Bothy is easy with one of Northumberland’s finest beaches, aptly named Sugar Sands, located only 2 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot. Access is from the village of Longhoughton itself, via a scenic farm track and there is ample free parking on the links. This beach provides the perfect spot for fun days at the beach, watersports, scenic coastal walks and even rock pooling. There is a handy convenience store for all your day to day needs and a post office in the village. You will be spoilt for choice with great places to eat out nearby with The Plough and the Tree House restaurant at Alnwick and The Fishing Boat Inn at Boulmer
Longhoughton is also only 5 miles north of the historic market town of Alnwick with its magnificent Castle and Gardens, Barter Books and so much more! The beautiful grounds of Howick Hall are only 5 minutes away, former home of Lord Grey and home of the Earl Grey tea, there is a lovely tea room where you can enjoy a nice cup of tea! The scenic fishing village of Craster is 10 minutes by car, explore the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle accessed via a coastal path and sample the lovely Craster Kippers.
The Bothy offers an excellent standard of self-catering accommodation and is a great cosy retreat for couples or friends who are looking to explore this coastline. Conveniently, all on one level and includes an open-plan living area, with a cosy, L-shaped sofa and footstool, free guest Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen and a small dining area. There is a very useful, wall map featuring the whole of Northumberland so, you can sit and make your plans for days out and about from the comfort of your holiday home-from-home. There are two lovely bedrooms - one king size and one twin, which can also be set up as a super king size and also a modern walk-in shower room with cosy, under-floor heating.
Outside, there is a small, pretty patio area with a raised border featuring mature shrubbery. There is a dining table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine after a day on the beach.
Off-road parking for one (or two sensibly parked cars) is next to the cottage.
