The Bothy is centrally located on the Northumberland Heritage Coastline in the village of Longhoughton, which is very near to the villages of Craster (10 minutes), Boulmer and the popular market town of Alnwick (10 minutes). Exploring the stunning Northumberland coast while staying at the Bothy is easy with one of Northumberland’s finest beaches, aptly named Sugar Sands, located only 2 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot. Access is from the village of Longhoughton itself, via a scenic farm track and there is ample free parking on the links. This beach provides the perfect spot for fun days at the beach, watersports, scenic coastal walks and even rock pooling. There is a handy convenience store for all your day to day needs and a post office in the village. You will be spoilt for choice with great places to eat out nearby with The Plough and the Tree House restaurant at Alnwick and The Fishing Boat Inn at Boulmer

Longhoughton is also only 5 miles north of the historic market town of Alnwick with its magnificent Castle and Gardens, Barter Books and so much more! The beautiful grounds of Howick Hall are only 5 minutes away, former home of Lord Grey and home of the Earl Grey tea, there is a lovely tea room where you can enjoy a nice cup of tea! The scenic fishing village of Craster is 10 minutes by car, explore the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle accessed via a coastal path and sample the lovely Craster Kippers.

The Bothy offers an excellent standard of self-catering accommodation and is a great cosy retreat for couples or friends who are looking to explore this coastline. Conveniently, all on one level and includes an open-plan living area, with a cosy, L-shaped sofa and footstool, free guest Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen and a small dining area. There is a very useful, wall map featuring the whole of Northumberland so, you can sit and make your plans for days out and about from the comfort of your holiday home-from-home. There are two lovely bedrooms  - one king size and one twin, which can also be set up as a super king size and also a modern walk-in shower room with cosy, under-floor heating.

Outside, there is a small, pretty patio area with a raised border featuring mature shrubbery. There is a dining table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine after a day on the beach.

Off-road parking for one (or two sensibly parked cars) is next to the cottage.

Lovely well equipped cottage. Very nice welcome pack, much appreciated. Enjoyed the games in the dresser cupboard. A nice walk down to beautiful beaches direct from the door and easy access to the coastal path.

Really good stay in a cottage that is excellently positioned to explore the coast towns and sights. Local beach is literally 2 minutes drive, where you practically park on the beach for 3.50 a day. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. The map on the wall is great for planning your day's activities. Lovely comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage in a nice village with a co-op and great cafe called The Running Fox. Fantastic location for lots of local places of interest- Warkworth, Alnmouth, Howick Hall, Cragside, Dunstanburg castle, Craster, Alnwick to name a few. Excellent property, well equipped and comfortable. Deceptively spacious, large kitchen/ diner and good size bedrooms. Loved the map wallpaper - we were able to plan our days over breakfast. Lovely little village but only a shop and a cafe so need to drive to get to nearest pub

The cottage is in a great location, beautifully furnished with a beach only a short walk away. The sofa was incredibly comfortable and garden was enclosed which was great for our dog. The welcome and information pack was very thoughtful and even tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets and dog treats were provided. The only negatives we encountered wRead moreere that all the mattresss were very firm for us and the oven despite only having two dials to press and turn we found difficult to operate. Hide

The Bothy is a great base for exploring the surrounding Northumberland countryside. Longhoughton is fairly quiet. Theres a nice walk on the beach road to exercise your dog. The accommodation itself is very well equipped and there is a really handy coat/ shoe area in the hall for all your outdoor stuff. This is a really well equipped cottage, with so many thoughtful touches. A beautiful cottage, small but perfectly formed. Exceptionally clean and good quality bedding. Beds were extremely comfortable. Kitchen had everything you would need. Lovely charming cottage that has been tastefully decorated and maintained. All amenities you could ask for. The cottage was ideal for us. It is centrally located and we often zipped up and down the coast visiting many coastal areas from Amble up to Lindisfarne. Great location. The Bothy was very clean. Milk and orange juice in the fridge on arrival, plus treats for the dog which was very much appreciated. The bathroom is tiny so would not suit those with limited mobility. The Running Fox cafe just up the road is amazing!

Wonderful cottage! This is our 2nd time staying at the Bothy, we loved it so much last year, we booked to come back. Its a coothie cottage, open plan kitchen, diner and living room. Warm and cosy, and an enclosed little garden, ideal for the dog. The beds are super comfy and the shower huge. This is a well appointed cottage in the heart of Longhoughton, only a short walk to the local shop, cafe and beach. The cottage is well-equipped, comfortable and peaceful. The courtyard style enclosed garden is perfect for guests with dogs.

The Bothy is a beautiful little cottage, everything you could possibly want and need. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise to find, especially the little doggie pack of chews, toy and poop bags. Unfortunately I fell on a walk on the first full day and broke my wrist.
