This charming stone cottage is full of character and is the perfect rural retreat, sleeping four guests across two bedrooms. Set within the tranquil rural landscape of North Northumberland, this charming cottage is an independently owned holiday let situated next to a working farm. Close to the border with Scotland, it is an idyllic location for a family holiday, romantic break or getaway with friends.

The cottage is one of three, former farm workers cottages which enjoy far-reaching views across the open farmland towards the Northumberland National Park. Set near a working farm, it offers a peaceful retreat where you can enjoy watching gliders swooping silently over the Cheviots, taking gentle strolls to the local pub, café and country store in Milfield (2.5 miles) or exploring the local area by car. In the market town of Wooler (8 miles) you’ll find restaurants, cafés and shops; a lovely spot to while away a couple of hours and opening in 2023 is Ad Gefrin, a new experience showcasing the area’s rich Anglo Saxon heritage. Drive to Bamburgh Castle on the stunning coastline and cross the causeway to Holy Island. Close by Alnwick Castle (where Harry Potter was filmed) and its beautiful gardens also offers a memorable day out. Over the Scottish border, historic Kelso, Melrose and Jedburgh are all within easy reach.

This pretty cottage has a bright and modern feel, the owners have added many thoughtful and personal touches to ensure that you have a memorable and comfortable stay. A cosy lounge with wooden floor, comfortable sofa, stylish armchairs and wood burner (a scuttle of logs provided) provides the perfect place to kick back and relax in the evening. A TV/DVD and a selection of books and games are provided for your entertainment. Beyond the lounge, the well-equipped kitchen-diner is beautifully designed, with wooden worktops, solid wooden dining table, electric oven and hob, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge/freezer and microwave. Upstairs, two double bedrooms both enjoy beautiful views and share a stylish bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the charming garden is the perfect place to relax, unwind and have fun. The patio area with garden furniture and BBQ is ideal for enjoying morning coffees or an al fresco dinner whist admiring the view. For quiet evenings, wander the lawn and wooded area where you can enjoy watching the sun go down. The garden is a great spot for bird watching by day and star gazing by night.

To the front is a parking space for one car, plus lockable storage for bicycles at rear.

Comfortable well equipped and warm cottage. The garden was a bit small and there is no immediate area to walk the dog. A nice welcome pack (biscuits, wine, chocolate) was left for us as well as a goodie bag and ball for the dog. Good location from which to explore Scottish Borders and the northern area of Northumbria.

A lovely stay at a beautiful cottage in an amazing location. We were able to access most of the North East, with the suggestions for local cafs, pubs and restaurants really valuable for the first couple of days while you get your bearings. Incredible views and walks surround this fantastic venue and the farm next door seems quiet and intrusive. AllRead more necessary equipment is there for you, with some delightful added touches such as a welcome basket and some wood for the real fire. The beds were very comfortable and the place was very clean, with fresh linen and towels at hand. I even managed to see a cloudless and moonless sky (wow), but beware the local birds, deer and hares, they are likely to jump in front of your car, so careful driving is a must. I'd recommend a trip to Etal for a couple of hours and maybe a lunch at either the post office/tearoom or the pub. Very, very friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely recommend this wonderful cottage if you want scenery, friendly locals, big skies, castles and time to relax in peace and quiet. Will definitely go again Hide

What a little gem! It was such a warm and cosy cottage in a great location. Lovely location although lacking in dog walks from the property. The cottage is well appointed and comfortable with plenty of games and books which was needed because the TV only worked via streaming and buffering did spoil viewing. Absolutely lovely stay at this cottage. Great location for easy access to everywhere you might want to visit. Very quiet and secluded. Lovely outside garden for the dog to be let out and not need supervision. Bed in front bedroom was so comfortable! We imagine this cottage is even better in Spring and Summer.

I cannot recommend this cottage more highly - 5 star all the way for me. In a lovely location with good local walks with my dogs. It is better equipped than my own house! Beautiful cottage in a beautiful area.. Welcome pack for humans and dogs was lovely. The house is very well equipped and furnished, and very peaceful and calm. So many places to visit within a 15-30 minute drive, both inland and coast, and very close to the Scottish borders, Coldstream and Holy Island both being approximately 20 minutes drive.
