My wife and I (plus dog) have just returned from a long weekend at Bamburgh Gate. Had a brilliant time. The cottage is small but perfectly formed with everything you need for a weekend away. Comfy bed, well stocked kitchen, lovely secluded garden and picturesque views. Easily accessible from the A1 and 5 minutes drive from Bamburgh. Definitely recommend a trip to Holy Island, walk from Newton by the Sea to Craster and a visit to Alnwick.

Cottage tastefully decorated with all amenities met, very clean and well maintained. A well presented cottage with a secure courtyard ,situated a short walk from the two local restaurants, both offering a wide variety of local produce on their menus. Also a short walk from the local shop and popular chip shop. The walk across the beautiful sandy beach to seahouses is a must, as is the sands of beadnall bay. Nicely situated for a lot of historical attractions in the Northumbrian area

Very Happy Guest on 26/03/2015

Fantastic Apartment Beside The River Tyne - large hallway, massive living room, and a lot of original brickwork throughout which is to our taste. Two big bedrooms, lovely massive bath towels and many spare towels at hand. Although facing a main road this did not spoil our stay and not really evident that there was a lot of traffic outside. This was a good stay and would come back and use this apartment again.

Beautiful, spacious and very clean! Made use of all facilities! All in good working condition.Brilliant cottage so happy to pay what we did. Will be looking to book this cottage again in future for ourselves as was perfect in every way..location, space and facilities! The reason behind our visit to the cottage was due to my mum recently having a terminal diagnosis.. So we wanted a family holiday away where we could relax and enjoy time together on the beach and at the local beautiful villages!! We couldn't have stayed in a more perfect cottage for what we needed! We've made some beautiful memories whilst been here and we have all thoroughly enjoyed our time here!

April Cottage, Middleton, Nr. Bamburgh

Happy Guest on 15/05/2015

We have just returned from a week in this fantastic cottage. From the moment that Pam and Richard, the owners warmly welcomed us and showed us around, we knew that we were going to have a wonderful time. The cottage is so well appointed and equipped with an excellent kitchen, bathrooms and shower room. It is cosily furnished and has a wood burning stove, which is easily lit and managed. After long, bracing walks on the beaches and cliffs, it was an absolute pleasure to return to the comfort and warmth of the cottage. The views across to Holy Island are magnificent and the field immediately behind the property is full of sheep, whose antics at times made us feel that we were actually participating in the film Shaun the Sheep - especially when the farmer arrived!! Pam and Richard had even supplied large quantities of bird food for the numerous feeders and there was a huge variety of birds visiting. There are bikes available too. We cannot praise this cottage too much - although we may regret doing so when we are unable to get in ourselves next time we want to visit and there are no vacancies.

Perfect Location on 21/09/2014

We booked to stay at Beachcombers in September for our first trip to Northumberland. The apartment itself was ideally located and very well equipped, modern and bright with everything needed to guarantee a lovely stay. Beadnell beach is literally on the doorstep and perfect for a relaxing afternoon with a book. It was only a very short drive to lots of Northumberland's attractions, just down the road from Seahouses and Bamburgh, with Lindisfarne and Alnwick (the castle is well worth a visit) approx 30 mins away. We will definitely recommend to family and friends and hope to return ourselves!

Coastguard Watch, Seahouses

Latest Review :

Tracy Kent on 23/05/2015

Coastguard Watch is in the best location in Northumberland. With stunning views in the lovely seaside town of Seahouses, the cottage provides excellent accommodation mixing the traditional seaside themed rooms with modern living. It is lovely watching the beautiful harbour come to life from the tranquility of early morning to the hubbub of boats getting ready for the Farne excursions, whether from the comfort of the lounge or the benches on the front outside. I recommend a visit to Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle. A beautiful walk to the castle, then back to the Shoreline Cafe for a lovely lunch (dogs allowed inside). Cragside is also a lovely house with gardens and walks a plenty. A Farne Islands landing trip is a must do, and a walk on Bamburgh's stunning beach while watching Gannets diving is spectacular.

Top notch Newly refurbished and you can tell that it's been invested in. The bedroom is massive and takes up the whole top floor. Extra large shower - no bath in the fully tiled bathroom equipped with underfloor heating. Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher etc. A bit short on worktop space, but that's splitting hairs in this lovely cottage. The large porch is great for wet boots, bikes or beach gear. Brand new decking Safe and secure parking in a private courtyard. Two mins drive from Bamburgh. Really friendly and responsive contact with the owners who were just nice folk.

We had an amazing week in Farne Retreat. We were so fortunate with the weather so spent the majority of our time out and about exploring. Visited Alnwick gardens and lunched in the treehouse - amazing! Spent an evening at the beach in Embleton watching the sunset - gorgeous. Visited the surrounding beaches and castles and went on an evening boat trip to the Farne Islands. Our final day we spent at Lindisfarne which was great even in the rain! The cottage itself was lovely and relaxing to be in in the evenings. Many thanks for a superb break away!

Farne View, Seahouses

Latest Review :

Alison Lilburn on 07/11/2014

Farne View is light, warm, comfortable, nicely furnished and good location. Farne View was one of the best cottages we have stayed in - and we stay in a lot! It was light, bright and comfortable and we loved the view - watching the tides and the waves coming in along the coastline up to Bamburgh. Although Seahouses is relatively small it has eating places, cash points and a local co-op so you don't have to venture far for your everyday needs. We loved the walk along the beach to Bamburgh. We stopped at the Grace Darling museum and a coffee shop before the return journey along the road. We were also lucky enough to arrange a short trip to the Farne Islands to see the seals in abundance before the weather changed. Also had visits to Alnwick, Holy Island and Berwick. Unfortunately we were too late in the year for admission/midweek admissions to the castles in the area but that's just something to save for next time!

Harbour House, Craster

Latest Review :

Pat Burns on 11/04/2015

We stayed at Harbour House over Easter with my family, six adults and three kids 4 and under. The house was absolutely perfect for our needs. High chair and travel cot provided and a stair gate available. The dining area is very spacious with plenty of room for us all around the table. The main attraction was the location. We knew Northumberland so picked Craster knowing what to expect but for those who don't it is a traditional fishing village turned tourist destination. Lots of walkers taking the footpath to dunstanburgh castle and eating ice cream on the harbour walls. Craster also has a fantastic pub, small cafe and a seafood shop and restaurant. Nothing negative to say but some may find the garden being across the road and issue. It is however completely enclosed and safe for kids to play and the road is narrow and quiet (with cars but not walkers). All in all I would highly recommend a stay here. The house is best summed up by a comment from my Mum that it 'was done up very nicely.. but not so nicely that you can't relax.'

Kipper Cottage is small but well equipped, traditional fisherman's cottage, just metres away from the harbour at Seahouses, it is clean, cozy and comfortable. Although the harbour is busy the location is pretty quiet. Take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to see the seals and birds - again just a 5 minute walk to the harbour. I'd also recommend Chillingham Castle and a visit to see the wild Chillingham Cattle as well as numerous local castles and Holy Island. The local pubs are very friendly & serve decent meals - Kipper Cottage is literally just a few feet away from two of them - The Schooner Inn and the Black Swan. Kipper Cottage is very good value given the location.

Oar is a cosy cottage in peaceful location, ideal for the beach. At the end of the day the cottage was a welcoming haven to return to. Pubs and hotel close by with excellent cuisine particularly Beadnell Towers which is a must for anyone visiting Beadnell. Bamburgh is a must to visit whether its to wander on the beautiful beach, visit the local cafes/pubs or to soak up the history in the Castle or the Grace Darling museum

Ocean Blue, Seahouses

Mrs Iris Parr on 23/05/2015

Lovely, well equipped, comfortable cottage. Excellent location being just a short walk to Seahouses harbour and shops. Close to Lovely walks across the beach; Bamburgh in one direction and Beadnell in the other direction. We booked a boat trip to Holy Island but unfortunately this was cancelled. We did not go to the Farne Islands this time to see the seals but have done previously and can highly recommend. We ate out and can recommend eating at the Links Hotel, One Coffee 1 and the Copper Kettle Tea Rooms in Bamburgh. The best fish and chips for us were from Pinnacles. During our holiday we visited Craster and the castle ruins. We also visited Alnwick gardens. Both these attractions are a short drive from the cottage. The booking was very easy on line and the description of the cottage was accurate.

The apartment was well placed near to the centre of Newcastle and not far from the quay. It was easy to get to and benefited from its own private parking which made unloading/loading easy. It was very clean and very well equipped, the bed was comfortable and the area quiet so we slept well. The owner left a welcome food basket which included a bottle of wine! We will definitely book again when next visiting the area.

Sara Lewis on 04/01/2015

Great little holiday cottage in a fantastic location for all things Northumberland. The wood burner made it cosy even on a freezing late December night and to walk out of the door straight into the silent countryside was just fantastic for seeing the incredible clear night skies. Well-equipped (although a shower or shower attachment would be useful) but the bath is deep and big, lovely. There's no phone signal but there's free Wifi if you don't want to be entirely cut off from the world.

Peaceful and well equipped. We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage which had everything we needed. It was in a small complex of rented cottages but was situated in the heart of the country. Bamburgh was only a few minutes drive away so we had the tranquility of the countryside together with the dramatic coast of Northumberland. Highly recommended.

Seashells Cottage, Beadnell

Malcolm Shaw on 11/04/2015

Seashells Cottage is a lovely 4-bed roomed cottage in Beadnell, only 5 minutes walk from the beach and the local shop. It has plenty of space with a lounge with two large sofas, as well as a good-sized conservatory which also has two large sofas and a 2nd TV. It also has a lovely paved area with table and benches outside for the good weather days. With two bathrooms - one on each floor - it was very comfortable for us to accommodate our family members, especially with a baby (cot and high chair provided). Would recommend without reservation - easy to book and based on this cottage, happy to recommend the quality of service.

High quality finish and nice little touches throughout, especially the blankets in the living room. Bed was very comfortable. Washing machine and deck chairs were very handy. The cottage was lovely and the best places we visited were: Bamburgh Castle, Farne Islands, Lindisfarne (Holy Island), A lovely walk from Low Newton to Craster via Dunstanburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle (the gardens looked lovely but we only made it into the building due to the weather). We thought Northumberland was lovely and will be visiting again.

Great cottage and location, nice people to deal with. Great location for travelling in the area. Parking was conveniently at the door.Cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed and the welcome goodies were an added bonus. The rooms are spacious and airy with lots of finishing touches that really make it feel homely. It was clean and very comfortable. We were able to light the fantastic wood burner and can guarantee it took the chill off of the gale force weather outside. The village of Belford has a Co-Op, newsagent, farm shop and few unique shops. We visited Bamburgh, Seahouses, Alnwick, Morpeth and even got a trip to Edinburgh in before we had to leave. This truly is a beautiful area and we'll definitely be back to stay at The Lodge.

Lyndsey M on 16/05/2015

Beautifully decorated, clean and warm ( the weather when we visited was sunny but cold, so good heating system was really appreciated). Well appointed with equipment. Really comfy double bed! Great location - 2 mins to the sea and 5 mins to Seahouses centre. Parking was really appreciated, we have to pay £35 a week for the same facility in some parts of Cornwall and then have to walk a distance with heavy bags, so we actively look for easy parking facilities. We were very happy with the whole package and are seriously considering returning to the same area. Lovely cosy, spacious cottage, providing all modern comforts whilst retaining features and feel of the 100 year old cottage that it is. Within walking distance of all local amenities, the sea and glorious beach. Lovely walks straight from the front door along sea front and harbour and across the sands to Bamburgh. We enjoyed visits to many of the castles within the vicinity, drove over to Lindisfarne to visit the priory, Alnwick Gardens (fabulous) and Barter Books. On the food front, worth visiting were Swallowfish for seafood, Lindisfarne Meadery, The Northumberland Hamper in Seahouses and the Cheese Shop in Alnwick for a huge selection of Northumberland Cheeses. Ship Inn in Seahouses for beer and atmosphere, plus newly refurbished St Aidan's Hotel in Seahouses for lovely new Bistro with great food and fabulous views over to Bamburgh.
