1 Beechcroft, Seahouses

Latest Review :

Miss helen w on 24/10/2015

The cottage was very well equipped. We found the parking very good and it is in an excellent location. We especially appreciated the fire, it was so kind that it was all set ready for us to light when we arrived. We really enjoyed staying in this cottage. Its location is ideal, just a short stroll from the harbour. It was very handy to have parking so we didn't have to drive round looking for a spot. The cottage is very well equipped and has storage heaters as well as an open fire. We also really appreciated the welcome pack which was an unexpected treat. The cottage had a nice home from home feeling and I would recommend to anyone wanting to explore the area as there is so much to do in the area so we would want to come back. Also we found the booking very easy and it was very helpful for someone to ring and email us suggestions of cottages.

1 Weatherley Street, Seahouses

Latest Review :

Dan B on 02/01/2016

1 Weatherley Street was a detached two bedroom cottage. The Cottage had parking spaces for two cars on the street outside. The street was nice and quiet with a dozen or so other properties. The house itself had been subjected to a recent and very well done and thoughtful renovation. The living room had a lot of character about it and a nice touch with the multi fuel stove. The kitchen had all the facilities needed for a holiday break and was well equipped. Two upstairs bedrooms provided accommodation for four and plenty of room. The bathrooms were all modern with comfort in mind, and toiletries/linen provided. The Cottage had a lot of charm and was extremely warm and comfortable. Wi-fi was included. We were provided with a welcome pack. This was a nice touch, and greatly received. We had a great four nights away with our two young children and were able to visit lots of attractions as well as visit local cafes/pubs and partake in rock pooling and crazy golf in Seahouses.

2 Quayside Loft Apartment, Newcastle upon Tyne

Latest Review :

Julie W on 02/01/2016

The Quayside apartment in Newcastle was perfect for our two week stay over Christmas and New Year, and was particularly well positioned for viewing the New Year fireworks display. The apartment was clean, roomy and well equipped, and in a great location with many restaurants and pubs located within walking distance, as well as a handy supermarket for provisions. The centre of the city was also within walking distance, as were attractions such as the Sage and Baltic Mill Gallery, which were just across the Tyne bridge and the Millennium bridge respectively. We greatly enjoyed our stay in the Quayside apartment, and would love to stay there again if we visit Newcastle in the future. Could happily live in this apartment, as it had everything necessary. Very happy with our stay, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a centrally located apartment in Newcastle.

Mr George Porter on 03/07/2015

Beautiful grade II listed cottage, sympatheticly modernised. Lovely cottage style garden, very private and well stocked with garden furniture. Owners very kind and helpful. Explained the cottage well, offered any assistance we might need and left the cottage well stocked. Although owners live in next door cottage they were not intrusive but we knew we could get them if required. Lots to see and do, both country and seaside on doorstep. Plenty of good eating restaurants and pubs (Beehive was great, good beer garden and dogs allowed which suited us). We would certainly return should we be in area.

A fantastic cottage with great off street parking, warm and cosy with very clean rooms and everything you need for a great stay. Wheelchair friendly, toilet has a step down but did not cause us any major issues, we knew this prior to booking. Close enough for Amble and Alnwick. Very slight when in kitchen but did not disturb me at all and I live in countryside so would have bothered me. The cottage was perfect for me. Good size double bedroom and small single bedroom. Good shower. Warm cottage underfloor heating. Everything was good quality. Open planned kitchen lounge absolutely fine enough room. Very modern touch operated hob easy to use. Fridge with very small freezer but ok for me. Excellent washing machine. Bed soft which I prefer.

Herring House, Seahouses

Latest Review :

Claire B on 22/08/2015

We had a lovely family stay at Herring House in Seahouses. This cottage provided a great base to explore Seahouses and the surrounding area. We were a family of 5 adults (2 x couples and 1 single) and 1 child. Bedrooms were spacious with suitable storage. Although not essential to a holiday, it was nice having access to free WiFi in the cottage. Another bonus was parking for 2 cars. Can recommend a trip to the Farne Islands. We went with Serenity (book by the harbour in Seahouses) on the 1.5hr Grey Seals Cruise and were lucky enough to see a Minke Whale along with seals, purpoises and loads of birds. The commentary was interesting and the crew were happy to answer questions and have a chat. We didn't eat at the Ship Inn in Seahouses but did spend a few evenings enjoying a pint there. Busy, bustling pub with great local ale on draft. Recommend a day at Alnwick Gardens..maybe break it up with lunch at the Treehouse Restaurant. This was our second visit to both and would go back again. Bamburgh Castle is also worth a visit. Park at the free council car park on the main road on the left at the bottom of the castle (you have to pay for the castle car park) and walk up to the castle itself. Buy your tickets for Bamburgh Castle and Alnwick Gardens from Seahouses Information Centre for discounts! If you visit other places, check with the Information Centre to see if they offer discounts off those too. The rest of the time we spent on Bamburgh beach which is absolutely gorgeous and definitely rates as one of my favourite places to be. Miles of sandy beach, rock pools and paddles in the sea (weren't brave enough to risk full submersion!)!

There was nothing missing to make our holiday better. I would recommend to family and friends and hopefully revisit ourselves.

Le Son de la Mer was cetainly well named, nothing quite like falling asleep at night to the sound of the waves. We love the surrounding area especially Bamburgh and Alnwick. The castles at both are spectacular and the gardens in Alnwick are well worth a visit. The trip to the Holy Isle was fabulous, steeped in history.

We stayed for just under a week at Christmas 2015. The accommodation is very adequate, lots of room, clean, well appointed and very well looked after. We locked ourselves out within minutes of arriving and the owners were able to get a spare set of keys to us in less than half an hour. They also had put a Christmas tree in the lounge with a few other decorations which was a lovely touch. There was also fruit and home-made scones left for us which were very welcome. These things made us feel very welcome. It is a five minute walk from a fabulous beach especially if you have dogs (some restrictions apply in the summer). I would recommend this property to anyone. The accommodation was well described and the service whenever I telephoned was efficient and courteous.

The accommodation was handy for all amenities and was an excellent base. It was clean and tidy with all mod cons to entertain the family. Everything was in good condition and cleanliness of a high standard making our stay more comfortable and pleasant. Ocean Blue was an excellent base for our family of 4 only issue was unable to follow instructions regarding heating. Apart from that we found cottage very comfortable with all the amenities to make our holiday most enjoyable. We loved our walks along the beaches towards Beadnell and to Bamburgh. Visit to Bamburgh Castle is a must as is trip to Dunstanburgh. My husband and I love reading and enjoyed trip to Barter Books in Alnwick which was once a station and biggest selection of second hand books. Also best value meal was at the Strawberry Lounge in Alnwick with the most delicious scones and the largest! We love the area and would recommend for relaxing break. Your site was very quick in responding and although you were unable to book our original cottage you were helpful in responding with other availability fitting in with our dates.

Great little holiday cottage in a fantastic location for all things Northumberland. The wood burner made it cosy even on a freezing late December night and to walk out of the door straight into the silent countryside was just fantastic for seeing the incredible clear night skies. Well-equipped (although a shower or shower attachment would be useful) but the bath is deep and big, lovely. There's no phone signal but there's free Wifi if you don't want to be entirely cut off from the world.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Granary, Bamburgh for a double birthday weekend celebration. We felt immediately at home there. A wonderful, large space for family - cosy with the woodburner and a fantastic kitchen - many cooks were at work! It was very clean to come into. A marvellous selection of DVD's and games to while away the time with on days of very bad weather. We however enjoyed the local walking - so accessible from The Granary. We would be delighted to return another time for a family gathering. For the number of people it accommodates I felt what we paid for the time we were in residence was very reasonable. Many, many thanks to the owner.

Happy Guests on 10/05/2015

Just returned from a wonderful week in a beautiful part of the country that was new to us. The whole family were able to join us and the house was perfect. There was everything we could possibly need especially for small children safety gates, high chairs, travel cots and even a baby carrier! When we arrived we were blown away by the view and the sight of the wine on the table was an added bonus! The house was spotless and very roomy, there were 8 adults and a toddler in our party and lots of space to relax in. The conservatory was a great place to have a little quiet time and catch some sun. We had mixed weather but it didn't spoil our experience as you could spend ages looking out on the bay we spotted seals and a dolphin one evening. Everyone enjoyed the lovely beach and there are plenty of walks to do. We did on line delivery for our food when we arrived as the bigger shops are in the next village. As a big group the two fridges in the kitchen was very useful. I would recommend trips to Alnwick and Holy Island and you can check the tide times for safe crossings at Seahouses. I am sitting here trying to think of any negatives about this holiday and even if I was very picky I would struggle to find some.

We return regularly to this beautifully appointed property and also to its neighbouring cottage on the same site. It is the perfect place to stay due to its peaceful location in unspoiled countryside, and yet within easy reach of Newcastle, Durham and the Metro Centre for shopping and sites. Wonderful open countryside, moors and the sea are also within easy striking distance. There are great cycle ways and walking on the doorstep and the cycle storage provided is a plus. The Piggery is a lovely place to stay with excellent social space and generous sized bedrooms. It is spotlessly clean, beds and bathrooms have quality linen and the kitchen has plentiful crockery, utensils and good quality electrical fittings. We especially like the underfloor heating and modern utility area, and that there is always a great supply of hot water. The owners are lovely, friendly people, helpful and professional without being intrusive in any way. All in all it is a delight to return here.

Having the owners just over the lane was great, they were very friendly and came to make sure everything was ok but without being intrusive at all. Alnmouth itself is a beautiful little place and is perfect for anyone with dogs. The pubs were all very friendly and welcomed the dogs in. Wagtail cottage on first impressions was comfortable and luxurious. It was done out very nicely, definitely a home from home! It provides an ideal base for walking and exploring rural Northumberland, with the added benefit of being a short drive from Rothbury where you can stock up on supplies. The information pack and walking guides were very informative and useful; we used them on our walk up to the Simonside hills and on to Lordenshaws and on a walk up to Harbottles Drake stone. We would definitely recommend it.
