We enjoyed a lovely week at Beechcroft Cottage. It was spotlessly clean and catered for all our needs. The starter pack was very thoughtful which included a bottle of wine and even treats for our 2 dogs.Yum!The owners had prepared the open fire and all we had to do was put a match to it.Plenty coal, logs and kindling provided. The cottage was very cosy. Both front and back gardens are enclosed and safe for the dogs. There was a driveway to the side of the cottage which was excellent,as the village has limited parking spaces. The large garage was useful for storage. All in all,a fantastic week was spent in this Home from Home. We managed to take a boat trip to the Farne Islands where the birdlife was phenomenal. The whole area is packed with ancient religious sites, castles and places of interest. The local community are very friendly with a variety of cosy pubs and restaurants, most dog friendly. We cant wait for our next visit.

Perfect place for a getaway for two on 14/01/2015

A fantastic rural escape for two in Northumberland. Rustic and charming on the outside, yet modern and tasteful on the inside. The accommodation sits on one floor with the bed located on a raised area next to the toilet and shower room. All mod cons are available, such as toaster, microwave, excellent responsive hob, fridge freezer etc., with plenty of glasses, crockery and cooking utensils for even the most ambitious cook. Of particular note are the lovely French doors that look out onto a pleasant seating area and open fields beyond. it was so lovely to watch the sun set in the evening with a glass of wine in hand. In addition, the wood-burning stove is superb; heating the room to toasty-warm in short order, and adding to the rustic charm and home comforts of the place. I would heartily recommend a stay at 2 Bamburgh Gate! As an additional recommendation; be sure to visit the Swan Inn/Restaurant in Warrenford, a mile or two away. The food there is truly superb, and worth every penny. As for Northumbria generally? Bamburgh Castle is certainly worth a visit, though I would give the interior a miss personally, it is merely a series of rooms containing random displays of pottery, Armour, paintings and other tit-bits. It doesn't really make much sense and has no real narrative (sorry) . Save your money, and take a stroll on the beach; it really is beautiful. I would also recommend a trip to the Cheviot hills, particularly if you like a good walk. Head to Wooler, and up to Wooler Common. Great views of the Cheviot can be had from the high points. We also took a trip up to historic Berwick-upon-Tweed. Definitely worth a visit. A really interesting town with imposing Georgian and Victorian architecture and quaint little alleyways dropping down from the main drags to the docks and bay areas. An individual place like no other.

Cottage tastefully decorated with all amenities met, very clean and well maintained. A well presented cottage with a secure courtyard ,situated a short walk from the two local restaurants, both offering a wide variety of local produce on their menus. Also a short walk from the local shop and popular chip shop. The walk across the beautiful sandy beach to seahouses is a must, as is the sands of beadnall bay. Nicely situated for a lot of historical attractions in the Northumbrian area

Fantastic Apartment Beside The River Tyne - large hallway, massive living room, and a lot of original brickwork throughout which is to our taste. Two big bedrooms, lovely massive bath towels and many spare towels at hand. Although facing a main road this did not spoil our stay and not really evident that there was a lot of traffic outside. This was a good stay and would come back and use this apartment again.

The people that own the cottage really have thought thought of everything, everything in its place and a place for everything - such quality and high standard throughout the whole property. The Games room was a huge hit with everyone. We loved the cottage so much we have already re-booked for another stay in April.

The cottage is also only a short drive away from neighbouring areas. We were greeted by a hamper and a bottle of Bubbly which was a lovely gesture. The cottage was also decorated for the festive period much to our delight. Large range of DVDs at our disposal which i loved! The cottage is so well equipment we could have easily set up home here! The décor is modern yet cosy and keeps in with the Seaside. I would highly recommend this little gem to anyone and hope to return again this year. Thumbs up from Lord & Waddoups

This gorgeous little cottage was in a lovely location for short walks (some of our party have slight mobility problems)with the little bay right on the doorstep. The local people we met were friendly and helpful and the harbour was a great place to hang out watching the boats and occasional seal then to spurrelis for delicious ice cream. the highlight of our trip was a boat ride from seahouses to see the seals on the farn islands, i even caught a glance of a porpoise which was very exciting! There are lots of interesting places to visit near Amble. Alnwick garden is a good place to visit, something for every age, not just plants. (ask for concessions if you are disabled or a carer) . We also enjoyed trips to Holy Island and Bamburgh castle. Although Amble is a small town there are shops selling good local produce and the tourist information centre sells tickets for attractions at a 10% discount. A really enjoyable and affordable little holiday.

The Wheatley Family on 03/11/2014

We have just spent a fantastic few days at Coquet Cottage. The cottage is just lovely, very oldy worldy, but with really modern twists that give the best of both. The cottage is very clean and well maintained, and was much bigger than expected. Very comfortable for 6 people. The kitchen and bathroom are new and very modern, and the cottage is well heated throughout, the open fires being a great extra for a quiet and cosy evening in. The beds are really comfy, and the garden really pretty and well maintained. The setting for the cottages is just gorgeous. It is very remote, but as long as you understand this when you book, you will be very happy. The area is in the dark skies area of the national park. It is beautiful. The owners are there if needed, but are very considerate of your privacy. Some cottages I have stayed in the owners can be a little over-zealous at showing you around and telling you the do's and dont's, but here they are very laid back. The key is in a coded lock box and all the info you need is in the book provided. The only comment I would make is that if the cottage is for 6 people, maybe more comfortable seating for 6 in the living room would be a benefit (suite for 4, plus 2 wooden rockers) and also there were only 5 chairs at the dining table (we used a chair from another room with some cushions, fine for the little one). However this is a very minor negative compared to the positives this place offers. The area is just beautiful, with some gorgeous walks. The Rose and Thistle in nearby Alwinton serves a good pint. All in all a fantastic stay. I would recommend this cottage to anyone, and would definitely go back there. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Top notch Newly refurbished and you can tell that it's been invested in. The bedroom is massive and takes up the whole top floor. Extra large shower - no bath in the fully tiled bathroom equipped with underfloor heating. Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher etc. A bit short on worktop space, but that's splitting hairs in this lovely cottage. The large porch is great for wet boots, bikes or beach gear. Brand new decking Safe and secure parking in a private courtyard. Two mins drive from Bamburgh. Really friendly and responsive contact with the owners who were just nice folk.

The whole family enjoyed the stay in Dipper Cottage, which was well-equipped, cosy and welcoming. We visited the Duddo stone circle, which was around 30 mins drive away. We had an amazing week in Farne Retreat. We were so fortunate with the weather so spent the majority of our time out and about exploring. Visited Alnwick gardens and lunched in the treehouse - amazing! Spent an evening at the beach in Embleton watching the sunset - gorgeous. Farne View is light, warm, comfortable, nicely furnished and good location. Farne View was one of the best cottages we have stayed in - and we stay in a lot! It was light, bright and comfortable and we loved the view - watching the tides and the waves coming in along the coastline up to Bamburgh. Although Seahouses is relatively small it has eating places, cash points and a local co-op so you don't have to venture far for your everyday needs. We loved the walk along the beach to Bamburgh. We stopped at the Grace Darling museum and a coffee shop before the return journey along the road. We were also lucky enough to arrange a short trip to the Farne Islands to see the seals in abundance before the weather changed. Also had visits to Alnwick, Holy Island and Berwick. Unfortunately we were too late in the year for admission/midweek admissions to the castles in the area but that's just something to save for next time!

The cottage was lovely and well maintained. Fantastic location overlooking the harbour. The heating was turned on when we arrived which was wonderful since it was 34F outside. We spend a lot of time in the area and on this occasion we did not do any sightseeing. We booked it to relax for a few days before returning home to California. I have rented quite a number of cottages from you and never had any problems. So can't really think of anything you could improve on.

Great little holiday cottage in a fantastic location for all things Northumberland. The wood burner made it cosy even on a freezing late December night and to walk out of the door straight into the silent countryside was just fantastic for seeing the incredible clear night skies. Well-equipped (although a shower or shower attachment would be useful) but the bath is deep and big, lovely. There's no phone signal but there's free Wifi if you don't want to be entirely cut off from the world.

Woodburner and tea lights were all lit on arrival and it looked like something from a fairytale with all the fairy lights surrounding. The hut had everything we needed. Wood etc supplied. We brought our own coal for a bbq breakfast and there was a one hob stove supplied with kettle for our morning brews. If you are looking for a quiet idyllic spot then this is it. Still super close to all amenities but in its own little spot of heaven. Sooo romantic. We will totally be visiting again. Thank you.
