This two bedroom cottage is full of  quirk and character. Built using the local Whinstone (hence the name) it was once the Quarry Master's house in Embleton.  Set on a high point in the centre of the village, Whinstone Cottage offers lovely sea views from the rear of the cottage across the gardens and down towards Dunstanburgh beach and links golf course. Embleton is a great base for walking and the Telegraph newspaper wrote an article highlighting the joys of walking in the area. Click here to read that article. You can walk to the beach which is about one mile away down a country track and past the golf club. Just moments from the cottage you will find a lovely italian restaurant called Sambuca, with very reasnoble prices and delicous food you might just find yourself here more than once!

Once inside the cottage, a stone flagged hallway leads to a light and spacious living room which has wooden floors and views towards the sea. There is an original stone chimney breast housing a log burning stove and plenty of books in most rooms, ideal for cosy nights in. The owners have not furnished this cottage in a modern style - it is in fact, furnished in keeping with the character and age of the property - from the grandfather clock that greets you in the hall to the original antique wooden kitchen table so, if you love a bit of character, then you will love Whinstone Cottage.

Please Note: New Fischer 'Smart' Heating System has been installed in the cottage which is fully controllable in each individual room, making Whinstone Cottage a warm and cosy option all year round.

This cottage accepts one well behaved dog. Please note there is an additional charge, please see our terms and conditions (point19) for more details and point17 for house rules regarding dogs.

Been before,so knew what to expect, didn't disappoint. Like the location, comfort of cottage, view, homely feel. Wonderful cottage. There is a reasonably good bus service from the village of Embleton of which we made great use.You could go north or south, then have a wonderful walk, frequenting wonderful 'dog friendly' pubs, then get bus back. Bamburgh has very 'dog friendly' pub/hotels, notably the Lord Carew and The Victoria Hotel. Alnmouth worth a visit. Closer to home,Craster, High Norton, Low Norton. In short, it's all there for you to discover. Not forgetting the 'on the doorstop' Greys Inn, very friendly, good food, good beer, dog friendly. What more could you ask for?
