Set in a particularly attractive corner of Northumberland. The cottage offers rural tranquility with all the comforts of home. Well-equipped and furnished. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area - we particularly enjoyed watching the wildlife: some of the birds, mammals and plants are now largely gone from other areas of England. Lots of enjoyable walking - bracing up on the moors, gentler at lower level. A particularly attractive one is Letah Wood just south of Hexham. History and culture abound - Blanchland goes back more than 850 years, Hexham more than 1300 years, not to mention Hadrian's Wall; the lead mining museum at Killhope Wheel is a fantastic testament to a once prominent industry in the area. Several excellent traditional pubs in the area which offer good value home-made food, and most of which are dog friendly.

Space, furnishings and equipment all first class and all facilities well maintained. Although only a 20 minute walk from the village (and excellent pub!) the cottage felt very secluded. Fantastic 'dark sky' star gazing, lots of interesting country roads to drive around locally. Hexham, the nearest town, is really nice with interesting historical sites and all the facilities - including swimming pool - that you might need. The drive to Hexham, on a winding road, takes about 30 minutes. Speaking of driving, park and ride for Durham. Car parking in the city is a nightmare! Beamish definitely worth a visit although its expensive so make a day of it.
