The Piggery is a beautiful, stone-built conversion of a former farm building and yes, you guessed it - it was a former Piggery and what a difference a renovation makes!

The open aspect from the extra large lounge windows allows you to soak up the views whilst relaxing in the comfort of this warm and spacious home from home with a luxurious and peaceful ambience.

Set in its own peaceful, private surroundings, this cottage offers every luxury for up to 6 guests in 3 good size bedrooms. Each room has its own thermostat for controlling individual room temperature. There are  2 bath/shower rooms, underfloor heating, Wi-Fi,  fantastic views of open countryside, woodland walking from the doorstep, as well as walks along the Derwent River. The National Trust's  award winning 'Gibside Estate' is close by and in addition to all of this, there is plenty of parking and access to the city centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne is within an easy 20 minute drive.

Outside: 

There is a large, decked area with seating for your end of day relaxation and a great view of the 14th Century chapel which is steeped in local folklore - as featured in the photographs.

Accommodation

Entrance Hall: Doors both to the front and rear.
Utility/Boot Room: With washing machine and tumble drier, large sink and storage cupboards. Books and Games.

Open Plan Lounge/Dining and Kitchen Area

Lounge: Light and airy, with plenty of seating on comfortable leather sofas, coffee tables, a flat screen TV with DVD player, games and books and free Wi-Fi for guests.
Dining Area:  Large table and seating for 6.
Kitchen: Modern and fully equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere, and plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils etc.

Master Bedroom: King size bed, bedside drawers, wardrobe, mirror, chest of drawers and flat screen TV plus an en-suite shower room:
En-suite Shower Room: with large, walk-in shower, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail
Bedroom 2: Twin Bedroom with bedside drawers, wardrobe, mirror and small TV
Bedroom 3: Twin Bedroom with bedside drawers, wardrobe and mirror.
Family Bathroom: With large, walk-in shower, bath, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail. The underfloor heating throughout makes this room even cosier for bath time!

Peaceful location,welcoming owners, very clean & spacious, well equipped, spotless. This was by far the best cottage we have stayed in. So clean,spacious & well equipped. The location was brilliant our 2 young granddaughters could play safely outside, Gibside 18th century estate was across with lots for the children to do. Alnwick,Beamish,Tanfield Railway & the Northumberland coast all easy access. we have already decided to book again at this cottage & will recommend to our family & friends. Not sure you could improve on the excellent service &condition of this property.

Beautiful, new house with lots of space and well designed & fitted out. Everything we needed was there. We loved the open plan living space and also the patio. We were delighted with the wifi, utility room with washer & dryer. A small thing but very welcome, was the fact that the cottage was supplied with clothes pegs, bin bags etc, tea, coffee and even a pint of milk for our arrival! If I was in the area I would certainly consider your cottages. Our family (2 adults & 4 children aged 7-12) loved the Piggery. The layout and facilities of the cottage were excellent. Our children enjoyed exploring the surrounding fields in their down time. As a family we visited & really enjoyed: Discovery Science museum, the Baltic Art gallery (playground exhibition) , Alnwick Castle, Beamish, and walking along the quays in Newcastle upon Tyne.
