Renovated to a very high standard, this stone built barn is set in 100 acres of fields and woodlands in an idyllic location with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.
The cottage has plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy the stunning views with a lovely patio area and landscaped grounds. The Barn truly does provide a quiet sanctuary in a unique setting for you to enjoy and explore all that the surrounding area has to offer. This property even has its own historic, picturesque 14th Century Chapel with its countless myths and legends, standing within sight of The Barn.
During your stay, you might want to fish in your own private mile stretch of the River Derwent. It is also an ideal location for walking, cycling, bird watching and exploring the many local attractions the area has to offer, including the National Trust's Gibside Chapel and Grounds which is within walking distance of The Barn.
Rowlands Gill village is less than 1/2 a mile away with a good range of shops, including a Tesco Extra, chemists, newsagents, florists, restaurants and takeaways. The nearest pub is one mile away and is called the Pack Horse in Burnopfield. For golfing enthusiasts, there is a good choice of nearby golf courses including Whickham golf course which is less than 10 minutes away.

5 of us stayed at The Barn as a Birthday celebration weekend at the end of January. It is a lovely place to stay, really cosy! The log burner in the living area is fantastic. It is clean, well equipped and very spacious. The surroundings are beautiful - like being in the middle of the countryside - yet we were only 20mins away from the bright lights of Newcastle city centre. We would DEFINITELY go back and stay in this accommodation!

The Barn is a beautifully appointed cottage which was the perfect place to stay for our short break in the North East this summer. The cottage itself was spotless and equipped with everything you might need - a real home away from home. The location was idyllic - very quiet and ample opportunity for a relaxing stroll around the farm. There's plenty to see and do locally with young children. We visited the nearby Gibside national trust property and had a day at the Beamish Living Museum, which were both great days out. We definitely plan to visit again!

Outstanding. Beautifully decorated, bedrooms a good size with ample storage - wardrobe, tall boy, dressing table, full length mirror. Beds very comfortable.Extremely happy. High standard of cleanliness. The facilities were amazing - everything was supplied, such as dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, even laundry basket. Kitchen well stocked with crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils. Have already recommended The Barn to friends who live locally and are planning to book in September this year. It was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
