This beautiful cottage for two is situated in the Derwent Valley between Northumberland and Durham on an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Quarry Cottage offers luxury accommodation and plenty of character features reflecting its 18th Century history. A wood burning stove will keep you warm and cosy on any chilly evenings and you will feel truly at home relaxing in the lounge with a glass of wine! On Summer evenings, you can sit outside on the patio and truly relax in this peacful spot whilst enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding open countryside and paddock area which is home to the two Alpacas 'Bill and Ben'.

This cottage is located just over a half an hour's drive from the city of Newcastle (close to A68 and A69) where you can take advantage of fantastic shopping, dining and cultural attractions such as The Theatre Royal and Baltic Gallery! More locally, the nearest pub to the cottage is The Manor Inn and is a great option for meals. The village of Shotley Bridge is just a mile and a half away with a good pub restaurant, an Italian restaurant with a lovely atmosphere plus an Indian restaurant and a couple of Take-Aways.

If you enjoy walking and cycling this is the perfect base from which to explore the Derwent Valley and beyond with welcoming villages and traditional pubs you will soon feel like one of the locals! The Northumbrian town of Corbridge is just a 10 minute drive away where you will find quirky shops and cafes. There is also easy access to Hadrian’s Wall from Quarry Cottage so if you want to visit this fabulous Heritage Site you’re in the right place. A little further afield you will find the Northumbrian Coastline,  that will leave you with many lasting happy memories.

There is private parking for up to 2 cars.

This cottage accepts one small, well behaved dog. Please see our terms and conditions (point19) for more details and point17 for house rules regarding dogs.

Accommodation Summary:
There is a stone floor throughout downstairs and a steep, open tread staircase leads you to the Mezzanine bedroom.

Living/Dining room - with wood burning stove (an initial supply is provided), a comfortable sofa and armchair, coffee table, Freeview TV, DVD Player, a selection of books and games, a dining table for two, occasional tables and lamps. There is also a cupboard with hanging space.
Kitchen – Modern and well equipped with Gas Hob, Electric Oven, Microwave, Washing Machine, Fridge/Freezer. Door leading to rear patio area.
Bathroom – With walk-in shower with WC, washbasin with mirror over and a large, heated towel rail. A combi boiler provides plenty of hot water.

Open tread 'paddle style' stairs up to the bedroom with double bed, bedside drawers and lamps, large chest of drawers and velux windows.

Outdoor seating area and furniture looking out onto the paddock which is home to 'Bill and Ben' the two resident Alpacas!
Parking for up to two cars and secure cycle store.

Lovely quiet cottage in beautiful location. Cottage very small but comfortable with very steep stairs to the bedroom. Owner very helpful. Good location for visiting the area. Second time using your cottages and would book with you again.

Warm, quiet, cosy. Had everything we needed. Very clean and easy to keep clean. Very easy to access lots of attractions we filled 10 days with no problem.

The host was very friendly and welcoming. We found the cottage just what we hoped for. It was very comfortable and cosy. Decorated to a very high standard through out and very clean. And it was in a beautiful location. Very clean, well equipped and everything finished to a very high standard.
