Hexham is a lovely cottage, clean and modern interiors, good facilities. Excellent location for amenities and the beaches for dog walking. Only downside is the car parking, although dedicated space sometimes difficult to get to depending on how others park, have to reverse up the narrow street.

The cottage is well situated, close to the harbour and to local shops. It is an ideal base from which to explore the area. We found it to be very clean and warm and to contain everything that could be reasonably required for a comfortable and relaxing break.

We took our first visit to Northumberland in August and used Hexham Cottage in Seahouses as our base. I travelled with my husband, two children, dog and my parents. The Cottage is located at the end of a lovely quiet road, and there is space for one car to parallel park outside the cottage. We did note from the website description, that a parking permit would be available for the car park in Seahouses and this was fine for us. The Cottage has a little porch, which was ideal for all our shoes and had lots of hooks for all the coats - much needed when holidaying in the UK. There is a lovely large living room, with two huge sofas - which could accommodate us all. The TV has freeview and a DVD player - there is also a good selection of books to borrow. The kitchen is very well equipped and on arrival - tea and coffee had been provided. There was nothing that was missing. It also had a small under stairs cupboard, with a washing machine, hoover etc. This was a useful space to store some of the beach and dog stuff. Upstairs, there were two double rooms and a single room with bunk beds. There was drawer space in each room - the only hanging space was in the main room. There was a huge walk-in wardrobe, which we all used. There was also lots of hangers. The beds were really comfortable and very clean, as were the lovely fluffy white towels that were provided. Again the bathroom was lovely and bright - the shower was powerful, hot and easy to negotiate! A couple of niggles was that the toilet roll holder, was a bit far from the loo and a shelf over the sink would be useful! (but minor points!) The Cottage had a reliable and fast wifi speeds. We had several apple devices which could all connect at the same time - handy for us to plan our trips out. Despite the Cottage being dog friendly, it was very clean and no doggy smells! We had one minor issue with the missing car parking permit when we arrived, but the care taker of the property was very friendly and helped to resolve this. We also met the neighbour, who was kind and friendly. To summarise, we had a great stay in the cottage and I would recommend this to others. The only point to be aware of is that the cottage - has no garden or yard. I discovered this when researching the property on Google maps - but I think it does need highlighting on the website - particularly if you need somewhere to let a dog out. However, as the harbour beach is a few minutes walk, this wasn't really an issue!
