Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, close to Harbottle Forrest and the River Coquet Cheviot Cottage is part of the Low Alwinton Cottages. The cottage is one of three stone built cottages and there are also three Scandinavian log cabins, all offering private enclosed gardens and off road parking. Anglers can test their skills on the River Coquet - famous for its challenging fishing. Or, simply soak up the wildlife; black grouse, ospreys and otters all being reported close by. If you prefer to venture further afield, just over an hour's scenic drive will take you to the fabulous Kielder Forest, England's largest forest and home to northern Europe's largest lake. Alternatively, another 40-minute scenic drive will take you to the popular market town of Alnwick, home to Alnwick Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in Europe (made even more famous by Harry Potter's 'Hogwarts' and ITV's Downton Abbey) and also to The Alnwick Gardens, featuring the renowned Tree House restaurant. You may also want to spend some time browsing over a coffee in of one of the largest second hand book shops in Europe, Barter Books, with its model trains pottering along above you head. A must vist in Alnwick!
