Our whole week was very enjoyable. The cottage was lovely - it was very easy to relax for the week. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. The welcome bottle of wine was a lovely touch. There was a good supply of fuel for the open fires which keep us going a good way into the week. The cottage was very well positioned with beach, shop, and good choice of pubs/coffee shops/restaurants. Because we had a large 8-seater car, it was not possible to park outside the house but we managed to park in the local car park, on the occasions when we couldn't park on the road. However, with a normal family car, it would have been possible to park outside the door, if careful. We loved seeing the sun rise over the sea. Stunning! (NB although beautiful, I understand the local beach is not safe for swimming as the river creates dangerous currents). The booking process was easy and staff were very friendly.

Well equipped, characterful, clean, good location. The house was well cared for. Pre-arrival info and cottage lived up to description. Border Cottage in Alnmouth is a cosy, very well equipped, three story cottage, on a cobbled lane in Alnmouth. Nice to have a fire in the kitchen as well as the lounge. Views through the houses to the coast, which is a 5 minute walk away. Good pubs and tea rooms within minutes of the property and it is well located for the best of the Northumberland coast.

Border Cottage Alnmouth is the perfect base for exploring some of Northumberland's fabulous beaches, castles and villages. The cottage is a five minute walk from a fabulous sandy beach and each of the bedrooms has a seaview. The beds and bedding are wonderfully comfortable. Three large sofas in the lounge make relaxing easy. There is a wooden bench outside which enjoys the morning sun and is a wonderful place to sit and have a quiet read. We enjoyed great walks to Dunstanburgh Castle, around Alnwick (the gardens are well worth a visit) Craster to Howick (ending with a cream tea at Howick Hall) and Lindisfarne on Holy Island (the Gertrude Jekyll garden is a jewellery box of colour in this environment). We will return :)
