The Old Byre is one of our coastal cottages that’s perfect for the whole family as it offers bed and bathroom accommodation on the ground floor, as well as upstairs. This impressive and spacious property offers excellent, self-catering Bamburgh accommodation for up to 8 guests in 4 lovely bedrooms (with 3 bath and shower rooms) - located within ‘Smugglers Court’, in the popular hamlet of Waren Mill, near Bamburgh. This quiet spot is just a stone’s throw from the picturesque Budle Bay, home to a wide variety of bird life. It’s also just 6 minutes’ drive (2 miles south) from the magnificent Bamburgh Castle - with stretches of golden, sandy beaches below and views of the beautiful village it once protected.
When you stay in one of our Bamburgh holiday cottages, you get access to a variety of local attractions, activities and amenities. Bamburgh offers a wonderful range of restaurants, pubs, shops and local attractions to visit - including the historic RNLI Grace Darling Museum. Cross the causeway to Lindisfarne, known locally as Holy Island (the birthplace of Christianity), and explore the nearby seaside villages of Seahouses, Beadnell, Low Newton-by-the-Sea and Craster - as well as Alnwick's market town, Castle and Gardens and so much more!
The Old Byre has been lovingly refurbished - and many of its charming original features remain, alongside the tasteful, modern additions and facilities. These include the magnificent stone-built inglenook fireplace, housing a large wood-burning stove (which ensures cosy evenings all year round); modern bath and shower rooms; and the conservatory/garden room, from which you can watch your children playing in the garden - all of which guarantee your stay will be a truly memorable one. If you’re set on staying in Bamburgh, cottages like The Old Byre are few and far between.
3 of the 4 bedrooms and 2 of the 3 bathrooms are on the ground floor, making this an ideal choice for families of all generations and groups of friends including anyone with restricted mobility.
There is an extensive, enclosed garden where you and your children can run around and play or sit back and take in the views of the picture-perfect countryside. A pretty stream on the other side of the garden wall, where the local wildlife (and friendly farm animals) can often be seen enjoying the water, makes this one of the most beautifully located cottages in Bamburgh.
There’s also a large patio area with outdoor furniture for dining out - and if you love nothing more than a great view, you can also enjoy the sights from the comfort of the sunny, elegantly furnished garden room (an ideal space to sit and take advantage of the peaceful setting).
Facilities in the cottage include free guest Wi-Fi, off road parking for 2 to 3 cars, a large wood-burning stove, a useful utility room, a travel cot and high chair and a range of children’s toys and games. Heating, hot water, bed linen and towels are all included.

The cottage was amazing, we staying with family who visited from Australia for our mothers 70's Birthday. Everyone had a fantastic weekend and enjoyed Seahouses and found a beautiful spot at Newton By The Sea. We all found the facilities at the cottage amazing and had everything we needed to make our stay so special.
