Cherry Tree Cottage is a beautiful, single storey, much loved property located in the peaceful Northumberland village of Acklington, just a short drive from the popular seaside villages of Amble, known as The Friendly Port, with its bustling harbour and excellent restaurants and Warkworth with its magnificent medieval castle ruins, pretty village and gorgeous beach.

The cottage can accommodate 4 holiday guests in 2 bedrooms, making this ideal accommodation for a family or group of friends. If you’re looking for a country cottage with all the comforts of home, Cherry Tree Cottage offers a great range of facilities to ensure you have a comfortable and relaxing holiday, including free guest Wi-Fi, two wood burning stoves, efficient gas central heating throughout, off-road parking for 2 cars and a huge, WOW Factor, secluded garden and play area. The garden offers fantastic views of Northumberland’s breath-taking open countryside with the Cheviot Hills in the distance and you can sit here and enjoy the spectacular Dark Skies of Northumberland at night. And, as the property is all on one level, this property is also perfectly suited to guests with limited mobility.

Cherry Tree Cottage is ideally located for visiting a number of surrounding hotspots - including Alnwick Castle (Hogwarts and Downton Abbey fame!) and The Alnwick Gardens (15 minutes by car), one of the world’s most contemporary gardens with its spectacular Grand Cascade water feature, the Poison Garden for intrepid visitors and for a culinary treat try one of the world’s largest tree houses - The Tree House Restaurant! Alnmouth’s beautiful beach, village shops, restaurants and golf course with panoramic views is only a 15 minute drive and a little further on you will find the pretty harbor village of Craster, the coastal walk to Dunstanburgh Castle and The Ship Inn at Low Newton and for garden lovers, the stately Howick Hall Gardens - home of Earl Grey tea.

There is also a great local pub/restaurant around a miles from the cottage

This cottage accepts three well behaved dogs.

  • 2 double bedrooms
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath and WC
  • New kitchen with fridge freezer, electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, air fryer, slow cooker and microwave
  • 2 wood burners
  • Welcome pack
  • Washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board
  • Additional fridge freezer in outbuilding, outdoor tap and hose
  • The Natural Paddock area is unlit with uneven surfaces, please take care when using this area. Please use a torch after day light hours
  • Off-road parking for 2/3 cars
  • Secure storage for bicycles
  • Pub approx. 1 mile, shop 4 miles
  • TV/ DVD, CD and iPod dock in the lounge; TV in the dining room
  • Although the property is on one level, there are two steps that have to be considered to those with limited mobility. Into the bathroom, and into the kitchen, internally and a small step externally.

A beautiful cottage, both inside and outside. It has everything you need for your holiday, exceptional household equipment. The internal decor is very tasteful providing a very relaxed and homely atmosphere. The cottage is also close to many of the wonderful beaches and Warkworth Castle. A very comfortable and well equipped cottage which we have visited several times and have already booked it for 2026 (March and October) , its like home from home.Ideally situated for visiting all costal areas whether north to Seahouses and Bambaugh or south to Druride Bay and Morporth. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cherry Tree. The cottage was lovely and cosy with plenty of home comforts. We especially loved the paddock, which was perfect for our Labrador to play in. Lovely base for our adventure with the dogs, lovely cosy cottage with everything you needed. The garden was great for the dogs and they are quite depressed now they are back home. Some really nice places to visit nearby and we will hopefully be back next year.

An excellent combination of olde World and Contemporary . A warm, cosy, welcoming cottage. Very dog friendly with a huge field for Bailey to run around in and for me to practise my golf as Clubs and balls supplied, along with other sports equipment. What a wonderful place , so glad I found this holiday home. We could not fault it. Very clean, comfortable, and a great size. Our 3 dogs loved having the huge garden to play in, it was hard getting the younger one to come back inside. The home really does have everything you will need and more. We will certainly book again. Lovely, comfortable cottage. Warm and well equipped whether you want to stay in or go out and about. Very clean - really cant fault it. We are now down to only 1 dog but used to have 3 and the fenced off paddock is absolutely ideal to older dogs to paddle round and for lobbing a ball for younger ones. Our second stay at this cottage and already booked for next year. Great location near to Amble and the coast north and south. The paddock is great for dogs and a great asset. Ample parking. Very well equipped. Cant wait to return next year

The best dog friendly cottage we have ever stayed in. We have two GSD dogs that we keep on the lead at all times so our dogs were in heaven zooming about playing ball and frizbe it was safe and secure. A beautiful cottage in a good location. It is very comfortable, well equipped with plenty of room for the dogs, very well maintained with a lovely front garden area and a long driveway. The fenced garden at the back was useful for the dogs with the use of a superb paddock for them to play in.

This cottage is tastefully decorated by loving owners , it shows internally and in the skill and knowledge used to plant up the gardens. It's peaceful and relaxing. However the step down into the bathroom ( although clearly signposted) is very steep and awkward to negotiate safely for any one who has ANY mobility problems. Lovely converted cottage but beware tall people. Very warm, plenty of space very clean and the bed very comfortable. We enjoyed the patio area but not too many opportunities (weather). The location was very quiet and a good base for exploring. I missed not having places to walk locally that didn't involve roads. Definitely recommended.

Lovely well equipped cottage with great paddock for the dogs to run free. Worth noting that there is no shop in the village and a trip into Amble is required.
