This welcoming 18th Century stone-built cottage for up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms is steeped in history and charm. As one of the oldest houses on the island, Britannia House still retains some of its original period features including beautiful oak beams and at the same time offers modern facilities to make your holiday relaxing and enjoyable. The front of the house overlooks the village green which is where a tree was planted by Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to the island. The cottage welcomes one well behaved dog and has a wood burning stove, free guest Wi-Fi and a small patio area at the rear where you can enjoy a peaceful drink and plan your days' out.

"Our third visit to Britannia Cottage, Lindisfarne in successive years. Accommodated family of 6 with ease, situated in a prime spot. The island is a tranquil place (especially when the tide is in) with flora and fauna in abundance. Lovely walks, historic places, lobster and dressed crab served to eat in or take away at the post office, mead and Craster kippers in the store across the street. Teas and restaurants to choose from. Beach 2 minute walk from cottage. This is a superb base on a lovely island. We needed no more. Thank you".

The house was first recorded in 1792 on the oldest existing map of Holy Island. The house name originated from one of three ships that still lie as wrecks close to the Farne Island shores. It is believed a local resident recovered the ship’s name plaque and used it as the pub sign. A replica of the sign still hangs above the entrance.

This cottage accepts one well behaved dog. There is an additional charge, please see our terms and conditions (points 17-19) for more details of doggy house rules.

Bed linen, towels, heating and hot water are included.

This was our second visit to Lindisfarne and we were so pleased with this little cottage right in the centre of the village. The downstairs living area is extremely cosy with a log burner and comfortable reclining sofas. We needed the log burner as the weather was not the best unfortunately! This did not stop us enjoying our holiday as there are three lovely pubs within a few minutes walk from the cottage and a fairly good selection of DVDs for guests to watch on those rainy days. Bamburgh village and its castle are a short drive away and Alnwick is a bit further down. Barter Books in Alnwick is a must when the weather is not so good. If your a bookworm and like a good breakfast your in heaven! To sum up, this cottage is a home from home with a spacious living area, dining room, kitchen and comfortable beds. We hope to return again soon! Thank you.

What a brilliant lovely place. The Britannia catered for all our needs. Clean, tidy and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen and utility. Log fire if required. Holy Island is a lovely scenic place. Friendly people, helpful and courteous. Gorgeous food in The Ship pub, friendly staff, fantastic quality and good prices. Walks, beeches, view tremendous. Can't wait to go again.

We stayed here for a week in April. Lovely cosy cottage right in the centre of the village. Very well equipped. When the tide comes in and cuts the island off from the mainland it is very peaceful.
