The charming village of Embleton sits just a stone’s throw from Embleton Bay and its stunning sandy beach. Whether you’re after a relaxing seaside holiday or plan on exploring locations further afield - including the nearby towns of Alnwick, Low Newton-by-the-Sea and Craster - Embleton has a prime position on the Northumberland Coast and is home to some of our favourite Northumberland holiday cottages.
Embleton is an idyllic seaside village, perfect for a coastal break. Embleton Bay shelters one of the best golden sand beaches in the country. With the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle providing a spectacular backdrop, it’s the ultimate sun, sea and sand destination in the region. With a wide beach and shallow waters, it's a perfect spot for a family picnic or a splash in the gentle waves.
Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club is just a short stroll from Embleton. Set back from the beach, this 18-hole golf course offers some of the best coastal views in the country. Newton Pool Bird Reserve is nestled behind the sand dunes south of Newton-by-the-Sea, within walking distance of Embleton. Here, you’ll be able to observe the abundance of local birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat from the comfort of one of the on-site birdwatching huts.
Water sports can be found in abundance at Embleton Bay and Low Newton-by-the-Sea, if you fancy trying something a little more adventurous! Local surf specialists at Northside Surf School offer group, family and 1-2-1 surfing lessons, providing an ideal way to stay active during your break.
