Sleeping six guests across three bedrooms, bring two of your dogs along too and explore the sights of Alnwick (7 miles) together, or travel 13.5 miles to Bamburgh for days on the beach or a game of golf on the green. With a cosy wood burner for chilly nights and a gorgeous, south-facing patio for warm, al fresco evenings, escape to this idyllic retreat and enjoy time away from the hustle and bustle.

 

As you step inside this welcoming home, leave muddy boots and sandy towels in the boot room, a handy space to use post-adventure. Make your way through to the heart of the home where the kitchen, lounge and diner fit together perfectly, and the space is filled with natural light. Fire up the wood burner and find a spot on one of the comfortable sofas where you can curl up and settle down for some peace and quiet. In the shaker-style kitchen, find everything you need to rustle together a feast, and a wine cooler to help get lively evenings started. With gorgeous views, the dining table sits in the large bay window, a great place for a communal meal, or you could head outside and plate up on the patio for sundowner evenings. Upstairs, the three bedrooms all boast far-reaching views and en-suites so you can rise and shine and gaze outside before freshening up with ease. There is off-road parking for three cars.

 

With views over the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the dramatic Cheviot Hills, there are plenty of places to explore close to home. Make a splash and enjoy water sports at Beadnell Bay (11.5 miles), a dog-friendly beach, or travel 13.5 miles to Bamburgh and visit the majestic castle with its fantastic sea views. Entertain little ones (or big kids) and channel your inner Harry Potter at Alnwick Castle where you can book to go broomstick training.

We loved our stay at The Whinny. Pam and Richard have gone out of their way to create a true home away from home. It was clean, spacious yet cosy and very well equipped. A cosy and welcoming cottage in the most stunning location with amazing views. With easy access to the coast, the countryside and only a 10 minute drive to Alnwick, it is a very convenient base. Everything about this cottage was perfect. The location is superb. The hosts, Pam & Richard, gave a very warm welcome & left a fantastic welcome basket filled with essentials & luxurious treats. The Whinny cottage is in a lovely location surrounded by fields but yet within easy reach of A1. The cottage is lovely and comfortable with all the amenities that anyone could want for a comfortable homely stay. Comfortable beds well equipped kitchen including washing machine, dishwasher. Lovely house with a wonderful view from the bay window where we spotted deer, hares and many different birds. We could see the Farne Islands in the distance. Had the most amazing stay at The Whinny cottage. Very well equipped in every way ,a lot of thought gone into our welcome pack . Would highly recommend this wonderful holiday cottage with amazing views with the sea in the background.
