Lovely, well presented little hide-away that was the perfect base for our relaxing long-weekend in beautiful Northumberland. The cottage was very quiet and peaceful, extremely well-equipped and well located for all the places we wanted to visit. The area it is situated in is stunning and dining out locally is a particular treat.

We stayed at The Signalbox just before Christmas and had a fantastic week. The owners had thought of absolutely everything and we were delighted with the incredibly well-stocked kitchen, along with books, games, DVDs, toiletries and a welcome hot chocolate there were even bowls and treats for the dogs! We couldnt have asked for anything more. EverRead moreything in The Signal Box is very high quality and no expense has been spared. The en suite shower-room is luxurious and stylish, and the bed very comfortable with a good quality mattress. The garden is completely secure and enclosed, with a barbecue and outside seating, and a stunning Northumberland view from the balcony. The location is perfect for exploring the county, and there is a pub in the village within a very short walk which serves meals. The Signal Box is a comfortable, relaxing home-from-home and we hope to spend many more holidays in this superb accommodation. Hide

If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.

Alternatively, if you’re seeking the bright lights of a city adventure, Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go. Here, you can experience world-class culture, outstanding attractions, superb shopping, impressive live shows, top entertainers and delicious cuisine in abundance.
