If you are looking for a traditional, romantic cottage for two, then look no further! The Old Stable is located next to the church in the pretty village of Eglingham with a great pub and is steeped in 18th Century history and has recently undergone a beautiful, internal refurbishment at the loving hands of the cottage’s owners, to allow their guests to enjoy the very best of both worlds; a range of modern facilities alongside original features and character a-plenty!

The Old Stable and coach house was originally built for the local vicar in around 1706, who also happened to be the Archdeacon of Lindisfarne! The cottage is snug and warm and still retains all of its old-world charm. The typically warm colour of the Northumberland stone and the former stable windows and other features retain the essence of the true nature of the building, while the many new facilities, such as free guest Wi-Fi, a cosy, wood burning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, off-road parking and a large, enclosed garden make this a luxurious, little retreat.

The Tankerville Arms pub in the village can offer you a friendly place to enjoy a drink and a meal and from Eglingham, you are only 15 minutes drive from iconic Alnwick Castle and the world famous horticultural treat that is The Alnwick Gardens. Alnwick is a market town and has a wide range of independent shops, bars and restaurants. Barter Books is a must visit, as is The Treehouse Restaurant located in the Alnwick Gardens and there is so much more to see and do here!

Wooler has a great range of independent shops too and affords access to the foothills of The Cheviot Hills about 25 minutes from the cottage while the glorious Northumberland coastline, Bamburgh beach and castle and Seahouses beach, harbour and trips to The Farne Islands is less than half an hour away.

The Old Stable welcomes one well behaved dog.

Really lovely little cottage, garden was much bigger than we thought which was a nice surprise. Loads of little seating areas in the garden so imagine in summer that's really lovely. Plenty of space and equipment in the kitchen to do Christmas dinner as well. Overall lovely property in great location, would go again.

We spent a week at the old stable and found it to be one of the warmest, most comfortable and cleanest cottages we have stayed in. The little lane it sits in is beautiful the cottage itself is beautiful and the garden is outstanding. When we arrived the cottage we made use of the wood burner and found the kitchen had everything we needed. The walksRead more in and around the village are beautiful and the local pub is a must. We would not hesitate to return to the village and especially the cottage. Hide

This was one of the best cottages we have stayed in, very comfortable and full of character. The weather was good and so we were able to sit out in the lovely garden. The cottage, especially the bedroom and the garden, was fabulous. Everything was very clean and tidy but full of character. Its position in the tiny lane is so convenient and quiet (and I loved the church bell chiming 2 minutes before the hour, or was the cottage clock fast?).

Beautiful property we were so pleased to have come across it. It is definitely home from home. Absolutely everything you need in a home. Comfortable and clean. Lovely, well kept garden. Great location. Some nice local walks.Even though near the church I very rarely heard the bells but if I had it would not have bothered me. Local pub which is a 2 mRead moreinute walk was fine. Although if you have your dog with you, you won't be seated in the dining area you are placed in the bar area, for us not an issue Hide

Lovely property ideal for two, with a spacious bedroom and more than enough living space downstairs. In a less autumnal week the garden would have been lovely too. And the wifi was more than adequate, despite the dire warnings!

A charming property with an enviable garden, perfect as a quiet base from which to explore the region. The old building is beautifully restored and offers a high level of comfort. Its worth noting that you need to be able to negotiate a steep stairway to the bedroom and bathroom. We had a wonderful holiday and our dog loved it too.
