When you first go into the penthouse apartment you are first hit with a sense of space, thanks to the high ceilings and open plan layout of the kitchen/living area, then you notice the wonderful view from the windows out over the estuary of the River Aln with the sea just a stone's throw away. And then you begin to notice how well appointed the apaRead morertment is, from the comfortableness of the beds to the quality of the cutlery - someone has given this place a great deal of careful thought when putting it together and it shows. Everything is such high quality. We easily fitted in 6 people and when family called in to see us the place didn't feel at all crowded with 11 of us in the living room. Everyone who came in said the same thing - Wow, look at the view.! You would literally never tire of seeing the tides rise and fall twice a day in the estuary as the sea rolls in. It looks picture perfect. The apartment is wonderfully located, with the beach literally a minutes walk away and the main street of Alnmouth right around the corner, so no excuses not to take a walk along the lovely sands and then call in at one of the local pubs or restaurants. We loved our stay here, just wish it had been longer. Hide

If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.

Alternatively, if you’re seeking the bright lights of a city adventure, Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go. Here, you can experience world-class culture, outstanding attractions, superb shopping, impressive live shows, top entertainers and delicious cuisine in abundance.
