  • Warm and cosy Scandinavian style log cabin located on the border of the Northumberland National Park
  • Views from the cabin to Harbottle Forest
  • Close to thriving market towns including Alnwick and Morpeth
Property code: CN152

Hill View Haven itself is a stylish, warm and cosy Scandinavian style log cabin with open plan living area complete with fitted kitchen, dining table and seating area. The cabin sleeps up to four guests across two bedrooms, one double bedroom and one with twin beds.

Hill View Haven is situated in Alwinton which sits on the border of the Northumberland national park, within walking distance of the local village pub which sells good home cooked food. There is another pub also within 5 minutes walk from the cottage. The cottage looks on to the beautiful Harbottle Forest and near the banks of the River Coquet.

The Northumberland National Park is famed for its wide variety of rare animals. Some animals that visitors may be able to spot include rare birds, otters, red squirrels as well as deer and the Chillingham Wild Cattle.

Such an unspoiled landscape provides a haven for wildlife. Black Grouse can be heard over the hills in early spring, and even the rare Osprey is a known summer visitor. Otters now are no longer a rarity along the length of the River Coquet and a glimpse of one of these elusive creatures can remain with you a lifetime.

And if all that peace and quiet gets too much - You are only a short drive away from thriving market towns, such as Alnwick and Morpeth. For the die-hard shopaholic, Newcastle upon Tyne offers fantastic shops and world famous nightlife.

Alwinton is about 18 miles (29 km) to the west of Alnwick and 10 miles north of Rothbury. Alwinton village lies at the head of the Coquet valley, on the edge of both the Otterburn Army Training Estate and the Northumberland National Park, roughly 10 miles (16 km) from the border with Scotland. A road continues past Alwinton into the Cheviot Hills where it terminates at the ancient Roman encampment of Chew Green.

Northumberland is also home to more castles and fortified houses than any other region in England. Including that at nearby Alnwick - Recently made famous as the location for the Harry Potter movies, as well as the recently refurbished Alnwick Garden. Then there’s imposing Bamburgh, Warkworth and the magnificently perched cliff-top ruins of Dunstanburgh castle.

So whether you’re looking for an escape from the city for a week or two, want to go exploring holiday with your children, or would prefer a romantic holiday for two in beautiful surroundings, you can have a holiday you will certainly enjoy right here at Low Alwinton in the spectacular Northumberland countryside.

Beautiful property in a stunning location. The picture windows face north and we were lucky to see lots of Persiod meteors (shooting stars) in august.

Excellent cottage for tjose who want to get away from it all. Lovely, but remote, location was just what we were looking for. Lovely welcome pack on arrival was a nice touch. Really good that towels, washing up liquid, soap etc included so we didn't have to bring them. Definitely recommend this cittage.

Lovely locations, fantastic for wildlife and walking. Very quiet. Nearest small shop is 10 miles away and pub is 1/2 a mile. Lodge very remote, which is perfect for peace and quiet. Barn owl sightings from the lodge. Lodge isn't perfect, needs some modernising, including a shower installing and curtains in the bedroom and the photos on this site doRead more not all match the lodge. Hide

Cottage fab, stayed in Riever, views fab windows need a clean to get full potential. Mop and bucket would be a good extra as like to mop. Furniture in others was a bit outdated. Need a car. Nearest shop miles away. Had to clean table chairs outside, and balcony.

We had a very enjoyable stay in Reivers Lodge. So quiet and peaceful and private. Lodge is warm and comfortable and clean. Set in beautiful countryside, there are great walks from the lodge. Check in at 5pm is a little late, especially coming up to winter. 4pm would be better for people. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Reivers Lodge and I would beRead more happy to stay there again. Lovely little getaway. Property a little dated but hot water, comfortable living room furniture and peaceful location. Well equipped kitchen and the views from the main room and the bath wonderful! Shame the windows were dirty but this wouldnt stop us from returning. Nearest shop 9 miles away but Tescos deliver to the property and the Rose and ThisRead moretle pub 5 mins walk away serves good food with a warm welcome. Walks from the property, and a nearby stream for dogs and children to play in. Hide
