Pine Lodge was kept very clean and we felt safe during the COVID pandemic. The owner greeted us on arrival and welcomed us with coffee and biscuits. The living space was fine for two of us, but we felt that it would be rather cramped in dining/kitchen area and the twin bedroom for a family of 4.

A very well equipped, clean, comfortable and warm cabin/cottage in an absolutely stunning location. The owner was very pleasant and he provided complimentary high quality ground coffee, tea and biscuits. Definitely the best self-catering accommodation we have used.

We very much enjoyed our holiday at the cottage - it was cosy and located in a beautiful part of Northumberland, with comfy beds. Appreciated the private garden at Pine Lodge, although it needed a bit of TLC as area had weeds and empty flower boxes. Kitchen was adequately kitted out, it would benefit from some spare crockery so washing up wasn't neRead moreeded after each meal. That said, we enjoyed our stay and these were minor niggles. Hide

Charming cottage inside the Northumberland National park between the villages of Harbottle and Alwinton. with the river Coquet running nearby. Comfortable pet friendly and an excellent location albeit rather isolated. Worth asking for a comprehensive inventory list prior to arrival. If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.

Alternatively, if you’re seeking the bright lights of a city adventure, Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go. Here, you can experience world-class culture, outstanding attractions, superb shopping, impressive live shows, top entertainers and delicious cuisine in abundance.
