These former stables have been thoughtfully converted into a wonderful six-bed holiday home, ideal for a gathering of extended family or friends (and up to three dogs!). Set within the grounds of a private estate in Eachwick, it’s ideally positioned for exploring the beautiful countryside or iconic Hadrian’s Wall. This charming property retains an authentic country feel with its beams and exposed stone, combined with lots of space, mod cons and stylish interior decor with occasional quirks.
Leave outdoor gear and dog towels in the practical hallway with its original limestone floor before doing some serious relaxing in the impressive lounge. With bare stone walls, an internal staircase, many windows and vaulted double-height ceiling complete with exposed beams, it feels both rustic and elegant. Two inviting seating areas cater to all tastes, with a lovely wood burner and a Smart TV to enjoy. The kitchen/diner has wonderful arched windows, stone floors and rafters but is equipped with a contemporary kitchen with an island/breakfast bar and table for dining en masse. There’s a quiet king-size bedroom downstairs (can be a twin), but upstairs the others comprise one super-king-size bedroom, one king-size, two twins and a single for the utmost versatility. The super-king has a bath in an alcove complete with rafters overhead but with doors, so it can be shut off. The upstairs rooms all have wonderful sloping ceilings with rafters. There’s also a generous, enclosed garden with dining furniture.
The pretty market town of Hexham (12 miles) offers sights and amenities, while there are walking and cycling possibilities from the door of your home from home. Hadrian’s Wall is within 4 miles at its nearest point, so you can experience Roman forts along the way. Or, if you want to re-enter the hustle and bustle, the bright lights of Newcastle upon Tyne are just 11 miles.
