Set within a beautiful and bustling hotel and wedding venue, Derwent Cottage Two is one of four attractive stone houses in a beautifully restored terraced row. The hotel complex itself covers 20 acres and is at the heart of the Northumberland countryside, where you will find plenty of things to do.

There is much on offer within the area, from fishing at the nearby Derwent Reservoir to playing golf at championship standard courses, or simply discovering the unspoiled, surrounding countryside. There is a king-size bedroom and a zip-and-link twin (that can be made into a king-size upon request). The large shower room contains a walk-in shower and a sleek and modern sink and WC. The open-plan lounge/diner has a TV and DVD, and the kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven/hob, a fridge with an ice box, a dishwasher and a handy microwave if you decide to eat in.

Other amenities include ample parking. Bed-linen, towels, electricity, central heating and Wi-Fi are all-inclusive and access to Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and grounds.

There is a lively bar and restaurant on site and the local pubs, cafes and restaurants are only three miles away. If you need anything extra, such as a high chair, reception is on hand to help. Arrival is 4pm.

The cottages are ideal for a relaxed holidays day either for two people or families who want more space and eating options than in the hotel. The bar and Prego restaurant give you that hotel experience. There should be more hotels giving these options.

Directly across from Best Western and very popular with parties, weddings etc so be aware it can get busy and noisy. Use of gym and pool with sauna and jacuzzi was great. Very clean rooms, with comfy beds, leather corner sofa (not my choice), but rooms could get a little warm as only small windows which opened and all internal doors are heavy fire Read moredoors.Probably better for a short stay rather than a week. An excellent location for touring the area which is rich in interest and views. The cottage was comfortable and the staff very friendly and in general helpful. It took four days and one reminder to get the shower fixed. The restaurant was very good but we didn't try the bar for food as most evenings it was dominated by visiting parties - hen partieRead mores, weddings, retirements etc. However, that didn't detract from our enjoyment of the stay. Comfortable cottage for a family of 4. Set in a lovely location and within 30 minute drive to a lot of local attractions. Having access to the swimming pool is a bonus, especially for the kids. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable and was very adequate for a week away from home.

If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.

Alternatively, if you’re seeking the bright lights of a city adventure, Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go. Here, you can experience world-class culture, outstanding attractions, superb shopping, impressive live shows, top entertainers and delicious cuisine in abundance.
