Set within a beautiful and bustling hotel and wedding venue, Derwent Cottage Two is one of four attractive stone houses in a beautifully restored terraced row. The hotel complex itself covers 20 acres and is at the heart of the Northumberland countryside, where you will find plenty of things to do.

There is much on offer within the area, from fishing at the nearby Derwent Reservoir to playing golf at championship standard courses, or simply discovering the unspoiled, surrounding countryside. The cottage is a stone’s throw from the historic cathedral city of Durham and only 15 miles from the bustling metropolis of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It is the perfect base for a rural getaway and for enjoying great days out in Northumberland and County Durham.

There is a fantastically well-equipped gym available and the shared grounds are perfect for al fresco dining.

The cottage is accessed via a tree-lined driveway where a stone frontage hides a neat and contemporary interior with neutral tones and mostly wooden floors. There is a king-size bedroom and a zip-and-link twin (that can be made into a king-size upon request). The large shower room contains a walk-in shower and a sleek and modern sink and WC. The open-plan lounge/diner has a TV and DVD, and the kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven/hob, a fridge with an ice box, a dishwasher and a handy microwave if you decide to eat in.

Other amenities include ample parking. Bed-linen, towels, electricity, central heating and Wi-Fi are all-inclusive and access to Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and grounds.

There is a lively bar and restaurant on site and the local pubs, cafes and restaurants are only three miles away. If you need anything extra, such as a high chair, reception is on hand to help. Arrival is 4pm.

Cottage is beautiful and has all the amenities you need for a holiday. The beds are comfortable. The lounge and kitchen are small. The facilities of the hotel, pool & gym are very close and lovely to use. The views are spectacular and the Town of Consett is close by.

Cottage is in a perfcet position for travelling with lots of places to visit within 30 minutes drive. The property is however a little tired and needs redecoration.

A very comfortable cottage well laid out, food at hotel excellent,a good base to travel around,as I indicated the only problem is the parking outside the cottage with the attitude of who gets there first.

A fab cottage based at a hotel, so only steps from swimming pool, gym, bar and restaurant. Food & wine was great with loads of choice (cheap options as well as more expensive e.g. great steak). If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.

Alternatively, if you’re seeking the bright lights of a city adventure, Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go. Here, you can experience world-class culture, outstanding attractions, superb shopping, impressive live shows, top entertainers and delicious cuisine in abundance.
