We lived in Tunstall Cottage for a fortnight and hosted three different groups of friends or relatives, each with a dog. The weather was changeable throughout. The cottage was a superb base in all conditions and we hugely enjoyed our stay.

A family party of 14 adults and 2 grandkids rented 3 of the 4 cottages for 3 nights and inspite of the weather had a great time. You have everything you need and the hot tubs are a bonus. We loved our short break at Tunstall Cottage - lovely countryside location but not far from amenities. The cottage itself was very spacious & well-appointed & we appreciated the little touches ( fresh flowers, home-made cakes ) left by Jayne to make us welcome. Lovely cottage, very spacious, excellent facilities. Unexpected nice touches, cakes and milk on arrival. The amount of cutlery, dinner ware etc far exceeded the number we usually find in cottages which was really pleasing. If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.

Alternatively, if you’re seeking the bright lights of a city adventure, Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go. Here, you can experience world-class culture, outstanding attractions, superb shopping, impressive live shows, top entertainers and delicious cuisine in abundance.
