This characterful stone-built fisherman’s cottage enjoys breath taking coastal views – perfect for a seaside family getaway.

Beggars Roost is a traditional, stone-built fisherman’s cottage, situated in a quiet location in the picturesque village of Craster. Due to the enviable location of the cottage, you can enjoy great views of the harbour and surrounding coastline including the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle. The cottage provides an ideal base for exploring the lovely village of Craster (world famous for its smoked kippers which if you are a fish lover is a must to try during your stay!) and the surrounding Northumberland area. Beggars Roost is a great choice for a self-catering holiday for a family or small group of friends as it sleeps up to 4 guests. (Please note: Beggars Roost is next door to Harbour View Cottage which also sleeps 4 and both properties can be booked together if you are looking for accommodation for up to 8 people).

The entrance to the cottage is at the rear. On entering you will find a small utility room, ideal for storing coats and shoes with washer/dryer facilities and sink. There is also a downstairs WC and wash basin.

The farmhouse style kitchen/dining room has a tiled floor with a dining table and chairs and is well equipped to make your stay as homely as possible.

The beamed living room has two leather sofas, an electric coal effect fire, a flat screen TV, coffee table and book shelves. There are wonderful views from the living room windows that overlook the harbour. The open tread staircase, leads from the lounge to the upstairs bedrooms and family bathroom. There are electric radiators throughout.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, a double and a twin room. The double bedroom is light and airy and has two windows from where you can enjoy stunning views of the coast.

There is a lawned garden shared with the adjoining cottage, with two park style benches at the front of the cottage, overlooking the harbour and perfect after a day exploring to enjoy the harbour. At the rear of the cottage, there is a shared lawned garden with a washing line, whirligig, patio area with table and chairs for enjoying outdoor dining.

The Jolly Fisherman in Craster offers Cottages in Northumberland guests excellent discounts in the restaurant outside of school holidays - please enquire for more details).

This cottage accepts two well behaved dogs.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

I cannot wait to return to Beggars Roost. the position, right opposite the harbour, with our private garden was perfect. As we visited in early January we had the village virtually to ourselves and it was heavenly to make a drink (early morning, afternoon, late evening) and sit in the garden and take in the beautiful sights and sounds of the villagRead moree and sea. The cottage enjoys a fantastic location with brilliant views over the harbour. A comfortable, wee equipped cottage in a fabulous location. The cottage was very clean and has fantastic views of the sea. The parking space is a real bonus. Craster has a couple of places to eat and is well placed for days out to castles and beaches so ideal for our family.

What a lovely cottage right on the harbour! We had a great holiday in this cottage and loved listening to the sea at night. It's a great location for walking and relaxing. The cottage is ideally located as a base for exploring Northumberland. It was perfect for two. Although fine for us - both retired - the stairs could be a challenge for the less mobile, quite steep.

Excellent location right on the front - fabulous views out to sea. Only about 50yds from start of path to Dunstanburgh Castle (turn left out the front of the cottage and you are there). Short walk around the harbour to the pub and the restaurant / coffee shops.

This cottage is in the most perfect location. It was wild and windy weather throughout our stay and we enjoyed watching the dramatic sea through the windows. The cottage was warm and cosy - perfect to return to after a day out in the wind and the rain. Its a very short walk to an excellent pub (The Jolly Fisherman).

The location of Beggars Roost is amazing in all weathers- its great to sit in a warm bedroom watching people out in the cold taking pictures of the storms battering the harbour. The views are breathtaking at any time of day. Craster is just a lovely place to relax or as a base to discover the Northumbrian coast. We loved it

Lovely cottage overlooking the scenic harbour In Craster. Very comfortable and warm . Our dogs loved it too though there isnt a secure garden. Will definitely be back.
