Ideal for small families and groups of friends, this seaside cottage enjoys pride of place just 100 metres from the beach. Situated within a private complex of lodges, it caters for all ages and interests with superb on-site amenities (including a shared games room and extensive outdoor play area) and great access to local attractions, with a popular village pub just 0.5 miles away. The kind of place where you could easily ditch your car and while away the days, the cottage’s Newton-by-the-Sea location also affords great sightseeing opportunities.

With lots of space to both congregate and enjoy some privacy, the property features a spacious kitchen/diner, a cosy lounge with a wood burner-effect electric fire and a bright and airy conservatory perfect for soaking up the sun’s warmth with a book. Not just a delight inside, this property also has outside space where a picnic table awaits, allowing you to enjoy morning coffees and lunchtime feasts in the fresh coastal air. And, with the bonus of a shared games room, the kids will almost be hoping for rainy days to make use of the pool table, table football and Sky TV with Sky Sports.

For film fans, the market town of Alnwick (10 miles) is a must-visit for its beautiful castle that enjoyed a starring role in the famous Harry Potter films. Another day, you can swap castles for catamarans and take a boat trip from Seahouses (7.5 miles) to the Farne Islands, home to many seals and seabirds, including around 43,000 pairs of puffins. For more wildlife-spotting opportunities, visit the village’s Newton Pool Nature Reserve and follow the winding network of paths.

This is our second stay at Beach Cottage. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped . It is close to the beach and for walking. The Peacocks are a delight and often display in the cottage garden. We would recommend the cottage.

If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.

Alternatively, if you’re seeking the bright lights of a city adventure, Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go. Here, you can experience world-class culture, outstanding attractions, superb shopping, impressive live shows, top entertainers and delicious cuisine in abundance.
