An idyllic cottage set on the edge of Rothbury offering fabulous views and a peaceful escape. The cottage provides a warm, welcoming place to rest after a day exploring the Northumbrian countryside.

Studded amongst the rugged wilderness of the Coquet Valley, Rothbury is a treasure trove of independent tearooms, scenic walks and local history. This charming cottage is a pleasing combination of contemporary style and rustic chic, offering cosy accommodation for up to six guests. Indulge in a little splash of luxury relaxing by the wood burner, recharging your batteries after a day of exploring the surrounding countryside.

Climb the steps and follow the gravel path to find a property characterised by lavish furnishing and attractive decor that combines modern elegance with period beams and exposed brickwork. The open-plan living space is kept pleasingly warm by the wood burner, and the kitchen has everything you need for cooking hearty meals. At bedtime, you’ll have a choice of three bedrooms with stepped access, including a king-size room with an en-suite shower room, and there is an excellent bathroom for long soaks. Outside, there is seating for sipping your morning coffee, and there is off-road parking for three cars.

Enthusiastic golfers will be pleased to know the golf course is just 0.5 miles away, whilst the keen fisherman will be able to cast their line on the River Coquet, popular for salmon and trout. For those interested in history and walking, the Northumberland National Park is easily reached via Great Tosson, 1.5 miles away, where you can view the remnants of the once impressive Tosson Tower fortress that protected the land from invaders. Hepple, 7 miles away, has a second fortress known as the Woodhouses Bastle which will appeal to budding historians too.

A well appointed cottage in a beautiful location and not far from Rothbury which has everything you need and some good restaurants. Would be a challenge for people with limited mobility as there are steps up from the parking area and several pairs of steps of different heights from the living room to the bedrooms.

Well equipped, warm and comfortable cottage, plenty of space for 4 adults. Excellent location with lovely views over the valley. Easy access to the open countryside, which is fantastic, as well as to castles, sea etc. Great local shops and good Italian restaurant. Would be very happy to holiday here again.

A lovely cottage, with friendly and very hospitable owners set in lovely countryside, yet less than 5 minutes drive from Rothbury. The cottage was exceptionally well equiped, spotless and we were greeted with a superb welcome pack! I can highly recommend this cottage and wiill certainly return!

This cottage is finished to a very high standard and would comfortably fit 6 adults or family. Everything is clean and the whole place is furnished to a high standard of comfort with an amazing view across the valley. Wow. Welcomed by an amazing hamper with all food groups , treats and wine ! Lasted us all week. Within an hour of sitting looking at the view , felt like a week and had left all stress behind !! The cottage was absolutely immaculate, lovely decor with an amazing view. The location was perfect and we had some great days out at Alnwick castle, Kielder forest, Cragside and Bamburgh beach. We had a lovely week at Armstrong Cottage in August 2021. Very clean, extremely well equipped and beautiful views. The town is a 20 min walk away, either down a quiet road or across the golf course. Having a full Sky package was an added bonus as it enabled us to record the Olympics and watch later. This is a lovely cottage on the edge of Rothbury golf course with attractive views from the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The cottage is very well furnished and equipped with quality items. A very nice walk, approx 15mins, from the cottage across the golf course into Rothbury.

The cottage is in a fantastic spot with lovely views. It has excellent decor, well equipped and with lots of little extras that were much appreciated. Any teething problems were dealt with immediately by the very friendly owners. The beds were comfy and spacious and it was very peaceful yet within good reach of many places.

We were very lucky to be the first guests at Armstrong cottage. We loved everything about it. It is in a super location with plenty of lovely walks from the doorstep. You can also walk into Rothbury across the golf course which is very pleasant. As we were unable to go out due to lockdown it was wonderful to have a coffee machine and a lovely welcome pack with gorgeous cake crisps and wine. It was so disappointing to feel that we needed to leave early because of the restrictions. What a shame we were unable to explore more of the surrounding area but we will be back at some stage.
