Last minute decision to take my mum away for a few days. Found April cottage and so glad I did. It was very important that the location would be good for my dog, a leggy labradoodle. The garden was perfect for her to explore as was totally enclosed and I don't have to worry about her wandering off. My family have always loved the coast around BambuRead morergh and only a couple of minutes in the car to get there for lots of walks.... even in the snow as we got caught in 'the beast from the east'. Shelter was found one day at the Bamburgh castle inn in seahouses. Lovely welcoming pub and great food. The cottage was perfect for what we needed and had everything that we could have thought about needing. Both upstairs bedrooms are en suite and decorated in a style that compliments to cottage completely. We kept finding new features that brought a smile to our faces. Often when you go self catering you find a put together set of kitchen items however I think this kitchen was better equipped than mine! Overall a wonderful short break. Thank you. Hide

April Cottage was perfect in every way. The cottage was warm and cosy, very well equipped, has stunning views and was in a good location for beaches, walks and local towns. The owners were really welcoming and helpful and told us where the nearest local shops were, local pubs and eating places etc. We had wanted to visit Alnwick Castle and BamburghRead more Castle but unfortunately all of the main attractions had closed for the winter season the week before our stay. Our half term seemed to be much later than everyone else but this gives us a good excuse to return. The weather was very kind to us so we enjoyed flying kites on Bamburgh beach and walking through the village. We loved our boat trip with Billy Shiels around the Farne Islands where we saw new born seal pups, highly recommend this but you need to wrap up if going out during the winter months. Alnwick is a lovely town and Barter Books is a must, for the cafe as well as the books. Sit in the old waiting room where there is a roaring fire whilst enjoying a cream tea or something equally yummy from the menu. The walk through the town, past the castle and along the river is lovely, starting at the Tourist Information office and finishing at Barter Books. On the way home we drove through some of the National Park stopping at Rothbury and Otterburn and several stops along Hadrian Wall. The scenery is stunning. There is so much more that we would like to see and do so a return for us is a must. Hide

I dont normally write reviews but we truly did have one of our best family holidays at April Cottage this year! The cottage is beautifully furnished and so well equipped and we really appreciated the Welcome Pack full of local Read moregoodies. Whilst cosy, there was plenty of space for three adults and two children and the beds were so comfy I am planning to ask Pam and Richard what make they are! ?? the fireplace is gorgeous and we could imagine how cosy it would be with the fire blazing, but we had no need to light it on this occasion we will look forward to doing that when we go back in October! We neednt have worried about amusing the kids either, as we had plenty to visit on our door step. We visited both Bamburgh and Alnwick Castle. The beaches at Bamburgh are just fabulous and of course, the dog had a brilliant time. We also had a trip to Holy Island and enjoyed freshly caught fish at the Crown and Anchor. When the weather wasnt so kind on one of the days, we were all in the Games Room, which was great fun with the table football and the pool table. We would highly recommend this perfectly placed cottage and we look forward to our return trip in October, where a trip to Chillingham Castle is on the card (supposed to be very spooky). Thank you Pam and Richard ?? Hide

We have stayed at April cottage a couple of times, first being in November 2016 and recently this June and it really is a special place. The location is excellent, the village has a pub and co-op so you don't have to worry about taking everything with you and is a very short drive to the beach and other attractions like Alnwick Castle, with having our dog with us it was all about her so we went to the beach every day and then came home to relax next the fire or in the games room. We both have stressful jobs and coming here really gives us the chance to relax and spend quality time together as a family, thank you for two great holidays and I look forward to more! :) Hide
