The outside space has decking with comfy chairs and a low table – on lazy days, take morning tea out and relax with your favourite magazine.

You'll find plenty to do in the surrounding area. Meander through the town with the iconic Alnwick Castle (2 miles) as your final destination; you can pop into a cafe for coffee and a pastry on the way. Head to Alnmouth (5.5 miles) for sea views and sandcastle-building. You can also access the coastal path, an AONB which runs the length of the county. Head 5 miles north of Alnmouth to Boulmer (7 miles), where traditional wooden coble fishing boats are still used to catch crab, lobster and sea salmon today – see if you can spot any. If you're hungry for more history, head to the 14th-century Dunstanburgh Castle (9.5 miles), which stands on a remote headland.

A lovely semi-detached modern house on the edge of Alnwick about 20 minutes walk from the centre. Very convenient for the shops, the leisure centre and the A1. Particularly good in the cooler months as it is warm and dry - unlike the period properties in town.

Stayed at Sunny Brae with our eldest son for a week. The house was in perfect condition with everything in working order as it should be. It was also immaculately clean and had a nice small garden to the side where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine All mod cons were provided and there was nothing that was missing. We would clearly recommend it.

If you’re looking for a seaside holiday with a difference, visit Northumberland – a region brimming with beautiful golden, sandy beaches, rolling hills, craggy moorland, bustling market towns and fishing villages, and more castles than in any other county in England.

Situated in the North East of England, this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty boasts no less than 39 miles of unspoilt coastline to explore and a calendar packed with exhilarating water sports options. To indulge in a spot of surfing, kayaking or powerboating, take a trip to one of the many breath-taking Northumberland beaches - where dogs love a good walk and fresh local seafood is never far away.

Home to the awe-inspiring Cheviot Hills and the historical Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland National Park is renowned for its open spaces, award-winning Dark Skies and stunning rural backdrops - and is the least populated national park in Britain. Offering access to challenging hikes, horse-riding, rock-climbing and a multitude of other action-packed activities, the park is one of the region’s greatest draws.

There is a huge range of spectacular wildlife and sea life waiting to be sighted, whether you take a boat ride to the Farne Islands to admire the colony of Atlantic grey seals and puffins, or explore the Kielder Water and Forest Park, home to magnificent ospreys. If it’s history you’re looking for, the imposing Bamburgh Castle and the world-famous Alnwick Castle are undoubtedly worth a visit.
