We loved the cottage, and garden. It does feel like a retreat. Care must be taken arriving and leaving, though, as the nearby road has fast traffic on it. It is well placed for Rothbury and Alnwick, by car, but no shops or safe walks nearby.

This cottage was ideal for my wife, myself and Poppy the Dalmatian. All facilities were in good working order and the bed lovely and comfortable. Although it's about half an hour from the beaches it's surprising how the journeys don't seem that long as the roads are in good condition, with of course I lovely views. A great place to stay.
