To admire perfectly manicured gardens, magical woodlands and a Victorian stately home, head to Cragside (2 miles), a National Trust property. You'll want to visit Northumberland's award-winning coastline during your stay – drive 21 miles east to Amble to explore this rugged stretch of shore. On the sandy beach, build sandcastles and take part in water sports like surfing and kayaking.
