Keen amateur astronomers should book into Kilder Observatory, a public astronomical observatory hosting regular stargazing evenings. Greenhaugh (3.5 miles) has a pub/restaurant, and Bellingham (7 miles) has shops, pubs, restaurants, and the famed Hareshaw Linn walk. Further afield, visit Kielder Forest and Water Park (20 miles) for water sports, cycling and walking trails amongst a landscape of woodland and lakes.
