The Bothy is centrally located on the Northumberland Heritage Coastline in the village of Longhoughton, which is very near to the villages of Craster (10 minutes), Boulmer and the popular market town of Alnwick (10 minutes). Exploring the stunning Northumberland coast while staying at the Bothy is easy with one of Northumberland’s finest beaches, aptly named Sugar Sands, located only 2 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot. Access is from the village of Longhoughton itself, via a scenic farm track and there is ample free parking on the links. This beach provides the perfect spot for fun days at the beach, watersports, scenic coastal walks and even rock pooling. There is a handy convenience store for all your day to day needs and a post office in the village. You will be spoilt for choice with great places to eat out nearby with The Plough and the Tree House restaurant at Alnwick and The Fishing Boat Inn at Boulmer

Longhoughton is also only 5 miles north of the historic market town of Alnwick with its magnificent Castle and Gardens, Barter Books and so much more! The beautiful grounds of Howick Hall are only 5 minutes away, former home of Lord Grey and home of the Earl Grey tea, there is a lovely tea room where you can enjoy a nice cup of tea! The scenic fishing village of Craster is 10 minutes by car, explore the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle accessed via a coastal path and sample the lovely Craster Kippers.

The Bothy offers an excellent standard of self-catering accommodation and is a great cosy retreat for couples or friends who are looking to explore this coastline. Conveniently, all on one level and includes an open-plan living area, with a cosy, L-shaped sofa and footstool, free guest Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen and a small dining area. There is a very useful, wall map featuring the whole of Northumberland so, you can sit and make your plans for days out and about from the comfort of your holiday home-from-home. There are two lovely bedrooms  - one king size and one twin, which can also be set up as a super king size and also a modern walk-in shower room with cosy, under-floor heating.

Outside, there is a small, pretty patio area with a raised border featuring mature shrubbery. There is a dining table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine after a day on the beach.

Off-road parking for one (or two sensibly parked cars) is next to the cottage.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Bothy. It is very well located in central Northumberland and close to fantastic beaches and many places of interest. Well equipped kitchen and beautifully clean. Excellent walk in shower too. Unfortunately we didnt find the bed particularly comfortable or supportive and the settee was too low and difficultRead more to get out of, all the scatter cushions are very tired! The dining chairs would also benefit from cushions. Our biggest gripe was the almost total lack of clothes storage space for a one week stay - we used the other bed and our suitcase for that duty, how a family of 4 would manage Im not sure. The entrance drive is rather narrow and very uneven, and parking/manoeuvring space is rather tight if all the adjacent cottages are occupied. Finally, the front door lock needs attention as extremely difficult to lock. The Running Fox cafe is almost next door and its very good, it does an excellent Full English. Hide

Lovely cottage and well located in the centre of Longhoughton with 2 cafes and a co-op within a short walk. The cottge has everything we needed for a comfortable week's stay. Our week at The Bothy was fantastic. Lovely light and spacious cottage for the two of us. Lots of equipment in the kitchen, comfy beds and good airflow with the windows and skylights open. Garden was stunning with roses, though we didn't make use of the outside dining area. Not far to get to lots of attractions: Alnwick Castle, Lindisfarne, SeahousRead morees, Cragside (do stop at Edlingham Castle and Church on the way). A cottage in a great location , difficult to access if you use a wheeled walker or stick due to uneven paths and gravel . The sofa is very low . Otherwise this place is great and we had a lovely holiday .

Had a lovely stay in a very comfortable cottage, location great for visiting all along the beautiful coastline and very close to Alnwick for amenities. The welcome pack and fresh flowers was a nice touch, we hope to stay again in the future.

This compact cottage is perfectly located for exploring the Northumberland coast, 10 minutes from Alnwick and the A1 its also easy to get to. The welcome pack which also included dog bits was a nice touch. Theres a local shop (CoOp) just a few minutes walk away and then youre less than 15 minutes from some of the most popular beaches like WarkworthRead more (one of our favourites). The Bothy is very airy and light and well equipped. It is tastefully decorated with very attractive and original furnishings. The 'Welcome pack' was lovely to receive and made us feel welcome and at home. The cottage itself is well located for buses, a Co-op and a very manageable walk to the beach and beyond. Absolutely beautiful cottage! We have had an absolutely wonderful few days break here. Beautiful decor, really well equipped and the beds uber comfortable! Amazing welcome basket too! Lovely cottage, excellent fixtures and fittings, quality beds and bedding. I do my research before booking, read the reviews and check the information, I feel theres a couple of things that would help make a decision. The bedrooms are small for the size of beds, not much storage in the second bedroom. This really is a fabulous cottage, we loved it. Warm, beds and sofa super comfortable and the cottage was stuffed full of little extras that made us feel very welcome and appreciated. Lovely cosy, well equipped cottage in a peaceful village location with on site parking. Small enclosed garden for the dog and lots of lovely walks from the doorstep leading to the coast. The treats on arrival were lovely including a gift for the dog, Would definitely book again.

Really good stay in a cottage that is excellently positioned to explore the coast towns and sights. Local beach is literally 2 minutes drive, where you practically park on the beach for 3.50 a day.
