It also has the magnificent Alnwick Castle (0.5 miles), which was used as a filming location for both Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. If you prefer days on the beach, visit the stretch of sandy shores at Alnmouth (5.5 miles), or take a long walk along the Northumberland Coast Path, taking in the rolling views and spotting seabirds.
