Boasting an unbeatable location directly opposite historic Warkworth Castle, this stone-built cottage is a romantic retreat for couples exploring the Northumberland Heritage Coast. Spend your days roaming the coast and countryside before returning home to the warmth of the open fire at this cosy home away from home.
Inside, the cottage oozes character. Step through the porch into an inviting lounge where exposed beams, period furnishings and an open fire create a warm and welcoming place to unwind. The window looks directly across to Warkworth Castle, and a table for two offers the ideal setting for intimate suppers. The well-appointed kitchen has everything you need for relaxed self-catering, while the elegant bathroom features a rainfall shower, bath and luxury toiletries. At bedtime, retire to the boutique-style king-size bedroom, dressed in plush linens and complete with yet more castle views. Although there’s no private garden, a bench by the front door provides a charming spot for morning coffee overlooking the castle walls. Parking is on-street and subject to availability, with additional free spaces just 50 metres away.
With village shops, pubs and cafes on your doorstep – and the beach a mile away – you’ll find yourself in an excellent setting for coastal adventure. Head south to Amble’s colourful harbour (1.5 miles) for seafood and beach huts, or venture north to magical Alnwick Castle and Gardens (7.5 miles), which was used as a filming location for the Harry Potter films and is home to a treetop restaurant alongside the famous Poison Garden.
