Family holiday homes don’t get much more spacious and tasteful than this light-filled retreat for four in Seahouses. Enjoy crisp, cosy nights in front of the wood burner or make the most of your beautiful garden with a bottle of wine and picky bits. It’s truly a sanctuary to return to.

Inside this two-bedroom cottage, a relaxing palette of earthy tones combines with pops of colour to reveal a space to completely unwind. Light fills the lounge as you recline on the sofa or fire up the wood burner. A stylish lounge/kitchen/diner will be another hub of the home, where you can sip a cup of coffee, throw open the patio doors, or grab snacks and meals in the attractive kitchen. Glorious sunshine seeps into this room, making it an excellent choice for playing board games or creating exciting plans. Retire to the first floor to find the bedrooms. There are two in total, and each one is as thoughtfully styled as the next. The king-size benefits from a large window framing fabulous views, while the twin is cosier but also enjoys plenty of sunshine. In the morning, make the most of your large patio with a hot drink and a breakfast feast grilling on the BBQ.

Slip into a slower pace of life in Seahouses, where you can wander along the sands (1 mile), pick up the Northumberland Coast Path or watch the colourful fishing boats come into shore. Another pristine beach is just 3 miles away in Bamburgh. Overlooked by its dominating castle, Bamburgh is magical, with a cluster of quaint cafes on stone-fronted streets and staggering panoramic views. Arguably as delightful is Alnwick, which sits 15 miles away and has been made famous by the Harry Potter franchise.

This is a lovely property in a great location, with it being just a 10 minutes or so walk into the town where there is an abundance of eateries and places to drink, good for young and old. A very clean feeling to the town and area, with friendly people, we just didn't have enough time to experience everything there was to offer with boat trips too.Read more The property itself is a little tired in decor now and the garden isn't quite as colourful as its photos, but was still very nice to sit out in, definitely a sun trap and secure for smaller/medium size dogs. There is a gate from the garden which leads out giving further walking options with so many footpaths still to be explored across fields and through to the beach in the area. The owner made effort to text on the first day to introduce herself incase of any concerns which was nice, and had left a nice welcome basket for both humans and dog too which was appreciated. A nice property in an excellent position for exploring the surrounds, with or without your car. Hide

The property was homely,comfortable and fitted out to a high standard.Had everything we needed for our stay. Communications were very clear. The welcome basket was much appreciated as was the text after expected arrival time to check if we had any issues or questions. Location was also very good with a number of eateries available to dine at .

The cottage was in a perfect location with easy access to shops, restaurants, bars and the wonderful coastline. We found the accommodation to be very comfortable and well equipped with all our needs catered for. The rear garden was a suntrap and perfect for enjoying our morning coffee, afternoon tea and a glass of wine in the evening.

This is a very comfortable holiday home in a brilliant location, not only for Seahouses, which is a short walk away, but for all of the Northumberland coast and inland. The ground floor is spacious with two separate living areas and a very well-equipped kitchen, as well as a handy downstairs toilet. Upstairs, the main bedroom is very spacious wRead moreith plenty of storage. The second bedroom is much smaller and would be ideally suited to children, although the single beds are adult size, so it depends how much room you're happy with. High-quality bedding, with towels provided. Lovely bathroom. The garden and patio seating area was brilliant, especially for our dog as it is completely enclosed and very private. It was a very peaceful spot for sitting outside. The owner is available to contact by phone if needed, and was very friendly and helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay at this cottage and would definitely recommend it to others. Hide

A lovely, comfortable cottage in a great location for exploring the Northumbrian coastline. Loads of things to see and fabulous walks. Our dog loved the beach and was very happy in the garden too.

We had a wonderful stay in the cottage. It was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The generous welcome basket and flowers were really lovely too, not forgetting the one for our dog too! Excellent property in a good location. Parking no problem for 2 cars and walking distance to centre of Seahouses but in a quiet location. Excellent spot to return to after a day sightseeing.

This is our 2nd time here. Gorgeous cottage. A lovely hamper & flowers for us and the dogs got one too. Very nice! Comfortable, clean has everything you need. 5 minute walk into Seahouses, shops, restaurants, pubs, and the harbour and beach. The garden is great for the dogs to run around. Really loved Saltwater cottage. It was a very comfortable and cosy home. Everything we needed for a week away. Great location for exploring the area. The garden was great and the patio was sheltered to enjoy the sun even on windy days. It was very clean, the human and dog hampers were a lovely touch. The only negative was the size of the second bedRead moreroom for grown up kids. My daughter is tall and the single beds were a bit short with the wooden bed ends. That bedroom is very small and probably better suited for younger kids. Everything else was amazing. Hide

Saltwater Cottage is a beautifully maintained, stylish cottage with absolutely everything you need. It has a comfortable lounge area and large kitchen. The patio area is spacious and private and the back garden was great for our dog. (Not entirely enclosed if your dog can vault a two-foot wall next to the back gate and tends to ignore "recall" - goRead moreod job I packed a long tether!). It's a 10 minute walk down the road to Seahouses which has shops, take-aways and pubs - all very convenient. It's also well-situated for travelling north or south to visit other places. This was our first visit to Northumberland and we will definitely return - it's all so unspoilt and has retained some local character - rare these days! Would not hesitate to choose Saltwater Cottage again. Hide

We had a great week at Saltwater Cottage. It is in a very good location, only a few hundred metres from the amenities in Seahouses, but quiet and backs onto fields. It was beautifully and tastefully decorated, and we loved all the artwork and little finishes. It was well equipped, with the exception of an oven-proof dish/casserole dish (we bought oRead morene and left it there!). Our only woes were the sofas (looked great, not so comfortable as they looked), and the shower (over the bath, definitely not a power shower). However, these were minor, and did not affect our enjoyment of the cottage. We appreciated the storage in the garage for bikes, and the garden, although a taller, more determined dog than ours (small Jack Russell Terrier) could make it over the back wall or gate, which leads onto a footpath. We loved the solid-fuel stove for coziness. Main bedroom was a great size with plenty of storage. All in all, a lovely cottage and we would definitely recommend it and hope to return. Hide
