Locally, spend easy mornings browsing the village’s indie boutiques, galleries and gift shops before diving into its fascinating story at the Grace Darling Museum (350 metres). Inside, the dwelling is bright, contemporary and cosy, pairing soft neutral tones with plush furnishings. In the lounge, kick back on the plump sofa, toasting your toes by the wood burner and perhaps catching up with your favourite series on the Smart TV. The open-plan kitchen/diner sets you up for relaxed cooking and sociable mealtimes, with pastel cabinets and wooden worktops, while a matching dining table is on hand for sit-down meals. Upstairs there are two beautifully styled bedrooms – one king-size and one twin – along with a refreshing shower room. Outside, the enclosed garden is a sunny haven with a lawn perfect for children and four-legged explorers, plus bench seating and outdoor furniture. On-street parking can be found nearby (subject to availability).

When you’re ready to roam, Bamburgh Beach (0.5 miles) is perfect for laid-back shoreline strolls or setting off along the Northumberland Coast Path for a good leg stretch. Hop over to Seahouses (3 miles) for colourful harbour life and boat trips to the wildlife-rich Farne Islands. Or plan a day out to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne (16 miles) for tidal causeway magic, and to Alnwick (17 miles) for its castle, famously used in the Harry Potter films, and enchanting gardens.

The location of the cottage is superb and the cottage is modern with some great facilities. The upstairs is beautifully decorated and well appointed. The welcome pack of M&S goods was great but was unsure why we had a pineapple and clingfilm left. I was not happy on such a cold day to come into the cottage to find no heating on and on 2 pieces oRead moref logs. Upon arrival with our dog I was not impressed that the back gate could be opened from the outside with no additional locks. In addition it was loose so we had to put the bins against the gate as it was windy. Hide

A lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay. The main bedroom was lovely and the bed was very comfortable (we did not need to use the other bedroom so couldn't comment on that one). Slept very well!

Watergate cottage is a comfortable & well-equipped base in an excellent location to explore Bamburgh and the surrounding area. The welcome basket was much appreciated & the owner responded immediately when we had a query. Lots of nice places to eat in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses as well as lovely coastal walks & many castles to visit.

We wanted a cottage with an enclosed garden and well-located for local activities and restaurants so this seemed like a good find. The cottage was clean and comfortable but lacked the finishing touches that would have made it special for the amount that was charged. For example it would have been good to have a windbreak for the beach, better cookiRead moreng utensils and serving / baking dishes and somewhere outside to wash boots or the dog (even just a washing up bowl!). We had a leak under the sink which we reported but we ended up fixing it ourselves and Im not sure if anyone came. We also asked about a washing up bowl but we were just told that there should have been one there But the worst aspect was the lack of parking in the vicinity which wasnt made sufficiently clear before we came - we had two cars and might have looked elsewhere if we had known. We tried our best but still got a note left on our windscreen saying we were in the wrong place and other property owners seemed to reserve places outside their houses that they werent using. Hide

Cottage, was lovely in a quiet area, close to hotels and cafes for food. It was very clean, no sign of dogs having stayed previously, well stocked and the welcome hamper was much appreciated

This cottage was marketed as being luxury accommodation-it was not.The main feature was the kitchen diner which was of a decent size with a good sized table and chairs-however there were no place mats for the table or sufficient coasters to enhance the dining experience. There were too many artificial flowers in large vases making the place look cluRead morettered and pictures were just stood up on the sideboard not on the walls The sitting area was minute when seated it was almost impossible to get up from the settee and walk out to the kitchen around the table in front of the settee-if the fire was going it would be a hazard!!! The main bedroom was of a good size but had no wardrobe so you had to use the small cupboard in the second bedroom not very good if four adults. Bedlinen was of a reasonable quality as were the towels provided Shower gel was provided but the shower itself was certainly not luxury there was not even a shower rack to put gels etc on you had to reach down to the floor of the shower tray Around the glass edges of the shower and in the corner were brown and black mould which looked as if it had been there some time Again pictures in the bedroom but not on the walls!!! Location of the cottage was good but parking was not as easy as advertised as residents took to putting up cones to prevent visitor parking The hospitality pack left was very nice and of a good quality -But I have never been to a cottage before where there was such a lack of basics provided i.e salt and pepper, clingfilm/foil,kitchen roll All in all I think that the cottage was of a reasonable standard but as said before not luxury Hide
