The neighbouring fishing town of Amble (6 miles) boasts a harbour surrounded by colourful beach huts, as well as some wonderful boat trips out to Coquet Island, an RSPB seabird sanctuary. Pick up some of the area’s best local produce in the market town of Alnwick (5 miles), home to cobbled streets lined with a fantastic variety of independent shops and cafes. The enchanting Warkworth Castle, a majestic fortress crowning the hilltop above the River Coquet, is just 4.5 miles away.

Great location and very good accommodation. Exceptional welcome basket with delicious cake. House well equipped on the whole and the availability of onsite parking very useful and would be even more so in high season.

Our 5th time at Lavender house and as always, absolutely amazing!! Spotlessly clean and a warm welcome with a generous hamper of goodies for us and the dog! Great location with parking provides a base for many walks in the locality. Some pubs in Alnmouth shut in early parts of the week so check before you travel. Stayed here for two weeks, very impressed with the accommodation, first impressions count. We are regular visitors to Alnmouth, so glad of reasonable proximity to the beach and restaurants/pubs. On entering the property, it was evident the cleaning team had done a thorough job, it was clean and fresh; we were also very appreciative of the welcome pRead moreack, some nice touches, dogs also were given treats. The property is well resourced with ample crockery, glassware etc, although the pan handles were poorly insulated and got very hot. The complimentary toiletries were well received, also glad of the washing up liquid, but would have been useful to have had a surface/floor cleaner; also tea towels were provided, but not dishcloths, nor cleaning cloths, people generally like to leave a property as they found it. The garden was small, but dog proof, garden furniture was comfortable with weatherproof cushions, an ideal sun trap. Hide

Lavender house is a very comfortable property with plenty of living space (there was only 2 of us), it was nice and clean on arrival and the hamper was a nice to have. Its location is excellent being only a few minutes walk from the village and beach. We would have liked a grab handle or shower mat in at least one of the bathrooms, and perhaps a doRead moreor mat to keep the entrance porch clean but these are small issues, we would definitely stay again.
